This list was compiled by someone who OBVIOUSLY never even TRIED magnet fishing. Here are just a FEW of the many reasons why. [1] - 95% of these magnets are useless for purpose. I mean, come ON man... 100 lb? 500 lb? that may sound impressive on paper but in the real world the ACTUAL power of a magnet in real life conditions is, at best, 10% of the rated figure. so with your 100 lb magnet, you will be lucky to pull 10 lbs and only then if the item was in the water only a few days where rust, corrosion, mud, clams and any number of other factors reduce even that. [2] 95% of these magnets are unsuitable for the conditions listed [canals, rivers, etc) where there is an actual current to the water. Those tiny magnets wont EVER get close to the bottom to attract ANYTHING. They are just too darned light. [3] - all but ONE of these magnets are ONLY suitable for direct dropping and straight pull up. the magnets shown do NOTHING when dragging. [4] these are all "cheap magnets" and I don't mean in just price. they are cheaply built and wont last long. Their magnets themselves (outside the casing) are so thin and brittle they would more than likely crack under the pressure of just hitting the water. anyone watching this - do yourself a favor, just watch ANY magnet fishing video here on youtube where they are actually magnet fishing. you will not find a single one that use lame magnets like these. ALL use bigger beefier magnets that weigh 3-8 lbs each. Why? because they are more durable, stronger, and more reliable.
