Mr Musk paid ZERO Tax in 2018. Big Corporations also avoid paying the fair share of taxes.

You don't need to be the wealthiest man in the world to state the obvious that the United States government is in deep debt. Debt of 37 Trillion Dollars and counting. That's 37 times a million times a million !! But Mr Musk or Mr Trump has no solution. Mr Trump added hundreds of billions of dollars to the national debt whilst he complained about government spending! Mr Musk, according to the net, paid ZERO Tax in 2018. He likes to live in America where he minimises his taxation.

fast forward 3 years: tesla and all other cars now have frequency modulating mmwave (fm-mmwave, able to measure speeds of things as well as position) lidar. vision for now is still needed for road signs until they integrate those into google maps or a some digital governmental store. mmwave lidar uses radio waves that go through basically anything obstructive (harsh light, smoke etc) and they are way less error-prone than vision as they give back just dots and vectors for the speeds.

Elon is totally right. People think in order to sell something, you need to learn business or get an mba. I had a friend who studied some philosophy and got an mba later. How the hell are you supposed to sell a product or market it when god knows you don’t know 1 or 2 about that product.

One of the reasons why people get into accidents is because our vision is imperfect. It takes time for our brain to process visual information and depending on a number of factors it may be hard for us see clearly that something or someone on our way. For example, during the night is extremely hard to see pedestrians in dark clothes, especially if the road has bad illumination. Tesla Vision inherits this issue and makes it even worse. When they only released Vision, one KZbin channel (I don't remember the name unfortunate) tried to put a bright red bin in from of their Tesla and check whether the car will stop by itself. The car didn't recognize the bin and hit it. They had another Tesla with parking sensors and legacy version of FSD. That car successfully recognized the obstacle and stopped itself in time. Self-driving cars potentially can become safer then humans is primarily BECAUSE they can use Lidar and other sensors.

I went to a top 5 global business school. I wanted to have at an early age a reasonable introduction to the various aspects of how a business runs. And I did get that. But I have to say that my classmates were, as a whole, ladder climbing monkeys who in an alternate universe would have just as happily gone to bakery school or toilet unplugging school if that’s what “society” told them was “the path”. When reviewing applicant CVs now, years and years later, I admit that I do view an MBA degree as a potential cause for concern. Especially as fees have skyrocketed, and the decision to get an MBA appears more absurd every year…

The cybersecurity industry in the U.S. is similar-filled with unqualified individuals. Many have never done real security engineering or possess any real knowledge of software engineering. Instead, they hold degrees in fields like political science or the arts and somehow end up as CISOs. It's no wonder U.S. companies get hacked so frequently.

Who will win the cowboy or bull what does that drive? the class room would only be a conversation one could say. If you where going to build a bridge, hwy, rail spur or pipeline you engineer from what humans have collected and understand if you drill into the ground you need weight to hold it only to be safe. Are the yo ta Tundra's safe to drive on the Tundra or is it to much impact for a cent itive environment? MBA sounds so cool like a basket ball with your name on it MBA then your name under it if you don't practice your relationship with theball there is no strength even in a dribble is can take more energy if you don't practice.

This is spot on. I've spent the last 35 years designing electronics for everything from toys to Mars rovers. Seventeen years ago, I started a design consultancy and was appalled by the degree to which people in the tech sector had no idea about technology. Just over a dozen years ago we got that remarkable customer who had an idea for a really good product, was passionate about it, and hired us because he knew that with his business degree and experience in real estate, he was in over his head. But he said, "If I have to take a crash course in engineering in order to make the right business decisions, I'll do that." And he did. Ultimately he was successful. Not that long thereafter, I had the owners of a medical diagnostic company call me for help with their new product. And along the way I discovered they were all finance guys originally from the hotel business and were also in way over their heads. The difference was that they bought companies to merge and flip them -- and then move on. They had no passion for their product whatsoever. And when I would say to them, "These are the things you need to know in order to make intelligent decisions about product features and time to market," they would consistently reply, "I'm not technical" and the conversation would be over. I don't know what they actually added to this company as far as value. They spent all day in their offices staring at spreadsheets with financials. But they weren't working on their product line. And they certainly weren't going to flip the company when the only buyers would be major medical equipment firms (think "GE" or "Seimens") who'd buy it to get access to an innovative technology at a lower cost than developing it themselves. From this experience, I developed an ironclad rule that if you're going to start a plumbing company, at least once in your life you have to have replaced a valve seat in a faucet or swapped out an old toilet.

I understand what he’s saying, but that’s just not how the world works. Corporations and family wealth is just going to keep growing so if everyone has to start with nothing the few large corporations and wealthy families will continue to rule the world. The best thing you can do is teach your children good values so they do good things with the wealth.

“LiDAR is a crutch”, said @elonmusk in 2019. Now 5 years later, companies like Bosh, Mobileye & Chinese NAV makers are starting to exit or scale back their LiDAR R&D. Why? Because Tesla has proved vision-based end2end approach is the ideal solution to autonomy without use of LiDAR. Pretty much all tier-1 Chinese ADAS developers like LI, NIO, XPeng, JiYue, Huawei, etc are working on their own LiDAR-less end2end systems, following in Tesla’s footsteps. Elon is right about his LiDAR claim and we will see further proof on October 10. The trend of lidar stocks is also a good indicator of its rise and fall. By the way, is Taylor Ogan’s LiDAR fund still in existence?

Rare moments Mr. Musk will be wrong about LiDAR usefulness(for short term of next 20years). The processing hardware required to crack stereo vision drive is non-existent as of 2024 to fit in a car at economic value. It's not a mere neuronal net development task to be just figured out, you need a different level of hardware power which is misgauged. (Even parallel RTX4090's won't suffice) This single foundational mistake has cost Tesla 8years of delay in FSD tech. Should have discarded LiDAR "after" vision based neuronal-Net was full baked.

"Food is extremely cheap these days" what kind of fucking brainrot do you need to have to think that food is extremely cheap and poor people have too much of it? If there's a fat poor person, it's because they're trying to nourish themselves with all the foods that are the most cheaply they can get for their money, which are also the most processed foods available. If you don't understand something as simple as fat people being malnourished because all they can afford is simple sugars and empty carbohydrates then you have no business running billion dollar companies with global reach

When you’re parking it’s helpful. Change my mind. I tested it in cars. You can’t see everything with cameras unless you have cameras everywhere 360. Animals, children, objects. Cameras. And our vision and cameras aren’t perfect. Try doing it in a low light environment. Why calling it lame in the first place if you developed your own one and use it with space X? Typical Elon click baiting irl. It has flaws yes but it isn’t lame. Expensive? Yes. Not ergonomic? Maybe yes. But for someone who’s vision is deteriorating with time where my perception is changing lidar is very helpful in the city. I do see how on US roads it’s unnecessary though. But I’m from EU.
