@@urboys2154 I’ve heard some great things about The Wild Robot, so there’s definitely some better films on the horizon! Admittedly I’m also not the best at seeing a lot of animated movies, so there’s most likely already some better animated films released this year that I just haven’t seen yet.

The record for most Oscar nominations is 14, and the record for most Oscar wins is 11. Do you see Dune 2 beating any of these records?

I haven’t looked too closely at what’s predicted to be nominated yet, but my gut reaction is no to both. Those are some really high numbers and I don’t know if Dune will have that kind of momentum come nomination season.
@r.c.c.102 ай бұрын
It's been a bad year for cinema so far. Although I respect your opinion, I think you are being way too mainstream with these nominations. Like those nominations to Jackman, Zendaya, Ferguson, Bardem, Chalamet, Smith, Powell are never happening. Nor should they. They are not bad, but there are many non-blockbuster films which have way better performances, scripts, costumes or others than these blockbuster films. They might not be great in all aspects at the same time, but should get their flowers in certain categories. We'll have to wait to see all the films this year and not even I have seen all the films released so far. But with the films I have seen until today of this year, I wouldn't agree with you in more than 15 of these nominations.

chalamet will get nominated for a different film and zendaya could be nominated but probs not.

@@Grand_Master12312 Napoleon wasn't a very good film but it definetely deserved nominations for Production Design, Costume Design and Special Effects. I would even argue for Supporting actress and Soundtrack. When discussing nominations the quality of the film as a whole shouldn't be take into account, nor how succesful they've been on the box office, but the inherent quality of the film in the aspect of each particular nomination.

I'd recommend watching Siccario it's often considered a sister film to No Country for Old Men because they share a cinematographer, Josh Brolin and setting. It's by DV and is a wierd and unsettling film that deliberately obscurifies the plot for its audience.

Bradley Cooper should have won for A Star is Born. My issue with Maestro was his voice, it may have been true to the character, but it was so irritating I couldn’t watch all of the movie. Also, he won’t ever win song as that award goes to the song writer.

It deserves to win, since the sound is so innovative and acts as a subplot for the whole movie. Next level use of sound. I think the BAFTA win might help people realize this more and we might see it take the Oscar. Good work for spotting it before the BAFTA!
