You counted out Wemett’s car a little too soon. His car top ended Dodger for the win with George Johnson driving.

The Buzzard Pro Comp dragster was owned by a friend of mine named Rod Phelps of Honeoye, NY. It was a blown small block Chevy Motor. I met Rod in 76 when I flew out to Rochester to be a crew member for Jim Wemett funny car team for the summer. Jim and Rod are good friends. Rod went on to be known as Rocket Rod Phelps. He owned a hydrogen peroxide Dodge Challenger funny car and a dragster. He had both cars at one time or another in Don Garlits museum.

Tom Anderson was not driving Jim Wemett’s funny car as you stated. It was George Johnson. Tom started driving for Jim in the early 80’s and finished driving for Jim when he got out of racing at the end of the 83 season.

Thanks James, we were going on what we thought was accurate. We have made 150 videos and in there are several mistakes like this. I appreciate you filling in the blanks for us.

Hey, I know this is a long shot, but my father Brian Lawrence passed away a few days ago and I'm trying to find a video of his drag car that he ran at cayuga around this time frame (92-93). It was a Monza that went by the name "Showdown". Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Rob, great film clips of days gone by. FYI I just want to correct you on one point. The Drag Dimensions Fiat is not being restored by Eddy Bryck. Ed was paid to build the chassis and that's all he did. The car is being restored by it's current owner Mark Chapman.

I think I remember seeing that 62 Plymouth big tire car (@ the 9;11 mark) somewhere in Canada when a buddy & I flat towed his 67 SBC powered Chevelle over to Canada almost every Sunday from Royal Oak, Mich back in the 80's-90's. At first the guy didn't want to talk with me when I said I liked his car as he probably thought a couple of Chevy guys were gonna give him crap about racing a Mopar. But back then I HAD a 440 powered 62 Plymouth Sport Sport Fury I was 'attempting' to race! Grin' But it was a fun car! That photo brought back memories....
