Ekk those were some rough mixes and i'm only 7 minutes in. Some decent tracks, but ouch on the beat matching and other transitions... I'll give him the energy, but as old school DJ, seeing all the 'assists' in todays DJ setups, it's sad that you can be that far out ever now... I'm gonna give him the credit that at least it means he isn't' using all that cheating, or pre-recorded set crap, etc. But actually doing it live, and manual beat matching, pitch, etc. But still, this would be considered a train wreck in my time(aka late 90's early 2000's, all the way til like 2015, there were guy still doing it with vinyl and pair of 1200's and a basic mixing deck, now most sets I see don't even try to pretend to do anything manually, they have are playing multiple pre set synced cd's they just do nothing but switch between, or similar on a pure software based mix, same thing basically, and so it's nice to see maybe some old school messed up transitions because they are not doing that.... Having said that, if it was just once I'd be cool, but it was basically every single transition was harsh, and we are only 1/10 of the way through the set... Does prove the old adage that if your tracks are banging, the crowd will ignore alot...

we come for the music, not really the transitions or anything like that unless you're specifically known for it, he's a producer/artist, not just a dj, the decks are just mandatory for a touring edm artist but no one really cares cuz thats not the point of a concert like this. For EDM, its to experience the bass and the music in a loud setting with a bunch of people, I dont wanna hear james hype's long ass technically great but boring transitions in here, EDM is about the drops and the main basslines/medolies.

@@Therealkalejuice Wrong. Maybe that is EDM for you. That's not where this came from at all, sadly like many things, people are completely ignorant of the originals of EDM, it was from underground raves(and many different underground music scenes before that), where people very much wanted to dance ocntinuously, and the transitions were about not breaking the vibe, and if you had to stop dancing because the transition was to stop instantly and play the next track at a different bpm, then that breaks people's rythm, etc. EDM is this horrible commercialisation of what was an underground music and dance culture that very much cared about transitions. Just because money has come in and suddenly you have celebrities up there pretending to DJ, and it became more and more about money, etc. EDM is like if someone started a new sports league, where the sport was called sport, and ti was called 'sports league'. And they ignored the history of specific sports like Basketball, Football, Soccer, etc and just called them all sports, and pretended there was no difference between the genres. EDM used to be talked about as eletronic music, and in the same breadth you'd specify the genre you were talking about, House, Tech House, Techno, Trance, Hard Style, etc and each had it's own culture, and each was very much on it's own journey, etc. And now they try to pretend that it's all 'house'... Breakdowns now are horrible, people have taken the idea that began in these underground dance clubs/groups and batardized it... mainly because of ignorant people who promoters who knew that they could get more people into a festival by just calling it'electronic music, rather then specify the type of music anymore, because they only cared about the money... So it's fine if for you electronic dance music is about whatever makes you happy, that's the point is to find what makes you happy and find people who like the same thing, etc.. but don't think just because you've attended some shows that you are some kind of authority on the subject, and can declare what is and isnt EDM music.. How about you go read some history of where it came from, talk to people who actually have been going to these events for 20-30 years about where what you call EDM shows came from... It's not coincidence that exactly the same time someone like Paris Hilton began playing at these festivals, that the term EDM was starting to be used for generic festivals, etc.. where you had more people who were ignorant of the history then you had people who were in the scene for a long time, at which point people who again were only interested in making money could get away with labeling it all EDM... cause before that, when it was say the original festivals in Europe, and Ameica, if someone tried ot do that they would have be rejected on mass by the people attending the shows.... because back then the music actually meant far more ot people, where a good 10-20% of the people int he scene were producers, or were DJ's, etc.. because it wasn't 'cool' like it is now in mainstream, in fact it was looked down on in many ways so you only attended because you cared so much about the music, and culture, etc.. Don't get it twisted, you didn't discover ----, nor do you have any idea of where these shows came from, to be able to start making such general statements about what the culture is behind these shows...

@@Therealkalejuice Of course KZbin removes my comments. Not allowed to explain to people why they are wrong anymore... because god forbid you point out facts... But you are wrong about EDM, it's history is very different from what you said, and EDM is a commercialisation of a culture that very much was about the music and people who liked to dance coming together.... where most of the people attending either helped put the show together, or were DJ's 'themselves, or were the people who danced for 24 hours straight, and yes, the transitions mattered, even if they were produceres... producers had some of the best transitions back then, because they had all the source sounds/parts of the track to play with to do the transitions, and many producers when they dj'd it would feel like one continuous track, where you could not even say where one of their tracks stopped and another started. They could do this because they were not hacks, they understood music better then most producers now adays who have so much help from computer software they don't even have to hear pitch, or understand anything about music theory to make tracks, they can just let the software do all the hard lifting.... back then producers where the best dj's.. and yes they absolutely never let the dancing stop for even a moment... and breakdowns were not ever song... it was used to really make the crowd get into a 'trance' not just some gimmic like it used now...
