Nice vid and awesome location! Ive been doing some ultra light also this week here in Bermuda. I caught a few species using that Zman FryZ with the 1/32 oz jighead. Thanks or the recommendation. Raj @luremongers

There must not be any predators that eat those tetras. Because I've never seen a river so full of a certain species of fish. It seems like there in every inch of that river.

NICE! If it's not too personal to ask but roughly what does a trip to Belize cost these days? Belize has been on my radar for a while for a place to visit and possibly look in to some real estate there.
@TheFishingNomad
@TheFishingNomad Күн бұрын
There's a lot to answer there. In short, most things are cheaper than the US, but some things are more expensive. For this trip my flight was "free" as I used airline points, but usually I see flights from Miami for around $300-400. Hotels were cheap, depending on which one I stayed at, it might've been less than $40 per night. On the other end, gas was more expensive. I don't remember exactly, but gas might've been around $6 per gallon. Food was pretty cheap, maybe 30-50% lower than the US. It all varies.

This explains how so many of them became established in Florida lol I do really like convicts. They've got some awesome colors and patterns on them. Not sure if it came out well in the video, but underwater I could see some Archocentrus chetumalensis. Unfortunately I couldn't get any of those to bite. They look pretty similar to convict cichlids.

that water isn't crystal clear, you could use heavier test line and avoid the tangles, and horse the fish in a little faster. Probably less stressful on these beautiful cichlids, too.

The creek near my house in eastern Pennsylvania is loaded with Tessellated Darters, Swallowtail Shiners, and Banded Killifish. I keep all three in a community tank and I'm impressed that you can catch darters with the other two around. The latter two feed so aggressively, that my darters would starve without my intervention. The only exception is with blood worms. Tessellated Darters turn into an entirely different, more aggressive fish, when blood worms hit the water.

I caught lots of snook and redfish and trout on them. Maybe flounder too but I don't remember specifically. I grew up in Sarasota and I fished a lot. Now I fish in the Chesapeake Bay a lot instead. No snook, mojarra, or saltwater catfish. Jacks and ladyfish are super rare. I miss the snook and jacks. But we have reds, trout, flounder, striper and others up here.
@TheFishingNomad

Absolutely, but not many (or any) fish in that small body of water that can eat a mojarra of that size.
@TheFishingNomad

True, but you've got stripers and bluefish that can get up to a nice size. I grew up in New Jersey and know that type of fishery well. Not as much diversity, but still a lot of fun to fish.

That all varies a lot based on many factors, the main one being what you want to catch. If you just want to go out and catch a bunch of different species like I normally like to do, just some pieces of frozen shrimp or squid that you can buy at Walmart or Publix will get the job done.

Do you shoot your underwater scenes with the bare DJI Osmo Action 3, or with a case?
@TheFishingNomad
@TheFishingNomad 16 күн бұрын
Just a bare camera. It's waterproof so no case needed. Be careful using it in salt though. I ruined some GoPros that way because even though they're waterproof, when the water evaporates it leaves behind some salt which can cause the seals to expand and no longer be water tight.
