I clicked this video because it looked short and didn't think it would offer anything different, I was pleasantly shocked to discover a lot of tiny new details that are a total game changer! Thanks so much! I only wish you had shown how to sew the other side of the zipper. Asides that very well done!!

I know this is old(er), but I'm hoping you can help. Where did you get that fabric? What is it? Rayon gabardine? I love it and it looks so gorgeous! Of course, there's the quality of your video, but that fabric still looks yummy and like a dream to sew with. I hope I can source it! Btw, I live in The States❤️. Thanks for the simplicity in hacking a bad zipper insertion into a fabulous one!!

Thanks :-). I bought is at the Norwegian shop Stoff & stil (www.stoffogstil.no/ ), but I can't find the fabric now. You can see more of the fabric here if it helps you in the hunt: www.notetoself.no/2015/12/06/trumpet-skirt-with-exposed-zipper/

Nice video, thanks. Please how do you deal with if the dress or skirt has lining. I'm just wondering what it should look like if there is lining inside. Thank you
@rebeccastanley74735 жыл бұрын
If it has a lining, you can either serge the lining to the outside and treat them as one layer with the zipper, or you can put the zipper in to the outer layer only (still use the fusible interfacing) and then flip the garment inside out, fold the lining in and slip-stitch it to the zipper tape. You can also top-stitch the lining down if you don't mind having it show from the outside.

It depends on the fabric you are using. If it feels solid enough without interfacing, I guess you could do without, but if its sheer, it needs more stability to hold the zipper.
