Always have Abelton Live running in the background for a couple of reasons. It’s just super reliable and easy to clock everything and I can hit record at any point.
@AKDanMusicMan23 сағат бұрын
@@the_astro_garden been trying to sync all my synths with MIDI clock from Cakewalk without much success. Was looking to buy a Midronome in the hopes I can get it all working. Hard to play across multiple synths with no clock sync.
@the_astro_garden22 сағат бұрын
@@AKDanMusicMan Yes that would be hard, maybe try the free version of Live, just to see if that can get things working? Bigwig is also quite popular. It helps if the synths have a midi thru, mix of midi and USB + a DAW for syncing makes life much easier.

@the_astro_garden3 күн бұрын
@@talktalk4503 Yes, definitely, would not hesitate for a moment. Not really concerned about how old a synth is, have owned a Virus and Blofeld, loved them then and would now still. The Hydra's though, they are very well thought out synth. You will struggle to find so much synth elsewhere for that sort of money. The Explorer is a little beast.

@@the_astro_garden thank u for thr affirmation 🙏 appteciate u. Hv been head over hills for the past 2 mths over this synth decision 😁 partly due to small studio and future-proofing (n well, budget). Was thinking of Blofeld n Virus too, among other things. Blofeld was a close contender but read many issues on its encoders. Wud love the Iridium Core but so expensive and it's not avail yet here. Anyway, thx again, look fwd to more hydra content from u.

You've been busy - another track! 😀 Do you compose in one go or gradually build up over several sessions here and there?
@the_astro_garden10 күн бұрын
I usually just play with different sounds, depending on mood and time, that can take days or hours. Once they all work together, ideally it's time to hit record before the idea fades into the abyss and start something new again. I always record in one go, whether it's using sequencers, arps or playing, I don't like to multitrack. For me anyhow, multitracking rarely sounds natural or organic, I would prefer a simpler, more basic track and less time as possible in a DAW other than a quick EQ and master.
@mack_solo10 күн бұрын
@@the_astro_garden You're not wrong about ideas fading away. Ancients believed that one "was' not a genius, but "had" a genius. And genius sometimes would bringeth the idea, but then genius would also taketh the idea away. I had lots of those. Dammit. 😄

I can sort of see why you changed the channel name. But I must say, that "Bill" was fine as it was. It was like cargo pants - they may not be fashionistas or country club elites choice of the highest regard, but when it comes to practicality, ability, and down right coolness, cargo pants don't need elites' opinions - they work just fine whether someone has an opinion about them or not 😄 Another stellar track! I was watching bunch of videos about relativity and black hole simulations today. This was a fine soundtrack over which to digest all the info. 👍
@the_astro_garden10 күн бұрын
You are probably right, I am just 'Bill' prefer cargo's and don't even have a middle name. My other hobby is astrophotography which I thought could somehow make its way into this channel. There should always be room for space stuff 🙂 The images on this channel were taken from my backyard using my telescope. Prawn Nebula on the banner and my favourite, the Helix Nebula in the thumbnail. Read up on the Helix Nebula, it really is a marvel and sits in its own part of space, far away from other nebula and galaxies. Very much appreciate your comments, keeps me motivated to keep producing.

@@the_astro_garden Wow, The Eye of Autobot - nice! I thought one has to get out to the orbit to Hubble that up. Obviously not. I used to follow Astrobackyard guy for a while, but since i haven't graduated past Moon photography which wouldn't look like that of a light bulb, I kinda let it go. Plus synthesizers are cheaper on G.A.S. 😜 P.S. Nothing to stop you to have two channels - less confusing for the googly A.I. to algorithm eyeballs to synthesizer music or astro pixels accordingly.

@@mack_solomoon photography is difficult to do as well. Such a technical hobby and G.A.S. hell! I may sell a telescope to pay for my Hydra’s! Not sure if I’m ready for a KZbin Astro channel, barely have time for this stuff.
