When you tune to drop c on a normal electric guitar, is that all you have to do or is there any extra steps.

That's pretty much it. Drop C is like Drop D but a step lower. Some people prefer using heavier than normal strings, so that the de-tuning makes them less “floppy”. You also might want to double check your intonation, since that can change a little bit with heavier detuned strings.
