Philippians 2:5-12 (NIV) In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Jesus loves you man, never loose hope in him! If you have any questions just reply and hopfully I can get back to you

Ok, so how do you affix the steel lentil to the house… is it bolted to the framing… or does it just sit on the brick at each end?

This was helpful! Informative, concise, gives a reason "why" that's often omitted when sharing the standards of installation, and even entertaining! Thank you for putting this video together.

Masonry is certainly NOT my specialty, so I came to this site to see if the Brick Industry Association's "superb" master mason (Bryan Light) might be able to provide video tips on keeping a typical 1-inch wide air cavity behind brick veneer CLEAR of mortar droppings. In this video, Bryan in fact states "But imagine if you will, (paraphrasing) the volume of mortar droppings that will collect inside the back of this (air) cavity as this 2-story brick installation continues all the way to the top of the wall. There is no way to keep (this cavity) pristine. However, I submit that there is definitely a "tried and true" way to keep these droppings to a minimum and it does NOT involve mortar nets or filter fabric. Many years ago (circa 1995) I was an inspector in Canada for Ontario's New Home Warranty Program (now known as Tarion). I was on a track-built home site outside of Toronto watching with keen interest a highly experienced Italian immigrant masonry crew installing brick veneer on the front and side elevation of the home. They had just started their shift earlier that morning and were just getting ready at about the 2-foot mark to install their brick ties. I couldn't help but notice a length of heavy 1-inch thick hemp ship rope hanging out of each end of the length of brick that they were installing. As I walked up to the wall and looked down into the ventilation cavity, I could see that they had placed the rope snug to the base of the through-wall flashing and tight in behind the freshly placed brick (but you could also see mortar deposits that had dripped down on top of it). "What is the rope for?" I asked. "Watch!" replied the lead mason. And in an instant, he and his partner each grabbed an end of the rope and proceeded to walk towards each other pulling the rope taught. As they did this, the rope rose up within the ventilation cavity and literally wiped nearly every single mortar dropping that had fallen into the cavity out onto the ground below and even neatly wiped the mortar flat that had "squished" out of the back of the bricks.. "That is ingenious!" I yelled back. I was "gob-struck" at how inventive yet SIMPLE this trick was. Leave it to the OLD masters! If anyone reading this ever tries it, records it, and posts it to KZbin, I'd love to see it! ingenious

Just smear a Peanut Butter Sandwich on brick. Sprinkle some Lays potato Chips and 1 Pickle. Rinse with a Large glass of sweet tea. Now use your pressure washer, and your done.

our brick house has cracks in the mortar and the brick on the chimney is falling off. Any settling in foundation will cause brick to crack. Plus motar needs repointed or tuckpointed every 25 years or so. Very expensive to do.

Around Pittsburgh 6:1:1 sharp sand N type is everywhere. Because the bag is already pre mixed 50:50 mix of lime and Portland, you would only add 3 parts sand.

Looking for a Residential Brick Mason to build a set of Front Entrance Brick Steps to my 1968 Brick Ranch Style home with full basement here on East Side of Greater Atlanta. I've been told that the closest match to my 1968 brick is Old Waverly or similar. All old bricks to the steps deteriorated, and were completely removed. We learned that our 1968 built home did not have a Concrete Foundation & Footings for the steps, so we'll need that too... all New Construction, so the job is very straightforward. Looking for A Real Brick Mason who will give Estimate and Do a Detailed Itemized Contract for this project.

Construction remodeling on my basement window sill ledge has a slant going down on the inside of the house... I was expecting it to be flat so I could put a plant on it... is slanting the ledge from the inside a thing?

Very basic question here: who would be responsible for laying up that example mock-up? And do you craft the contract with the masonry firm to specify that if the finished work is not up to the standard of the example mock-up then the building owner or general contractor will reduce the final bill by X% percentage of the estimated total?

Wow, that really was an eye-opener. To the uninformed person this could look like a "nothing" issue. Thank you for taking us through the process to see how a pre-build issue that looks like nothing produces real and significantly bad results...for everyone, building owner and all the contractors who put their hands to it.

Please to all the masons out there, do not use the rake jointer any more!! I've been repointing whole brick houses because of it, although I'm sure if you fill your head joints properly you might never have a problem, but why risk it? just go with grapevine or concave! Even builders in my area are not using it anymore, I've seen whole walls teared down because of water problems, stay away from it!!

Here’s where I keep seeing conflicting reports it makes it hard for me to know which type to select.. I’ve got a century old home where I need to replace large portions of mortar in the stone foundation. Some people say I definitely have to use type N in order for the wall to breathe a little. And then I seem to hear other reports that if you’re doing anything loadbearing that it better be type S. More confusing is that type S, at least on the packaging I’ve seen, often states that it can be used with stone. Further, Sakrete N mix instructions says nothing of using it for loadbearing stone. So who can give some definitive clarity on this question?
