Hello Rick you still modding watches ? Is it position to swap out a Miyota 8215 with either an ETA 2824 or 2836? I know I will need new hands , Overlay and movement spacer , Stem . Thank you 🙏

Just tried that. It worked first attempt. So many tutorials on the forums say “Take this or that cover off” or “Remove the DWO first”. Not necessary with your method. No tools needed except a fine pointed object - I used a pair of number 5 tweezers. Can’t thank you enough buddy.

Glad it worked for you! I still use a variation of this method after all these years.

So in order to put back the date wheel you need to remove that center piece?
@photonfab2 жыл бұрын
The properly way yes, but theres an easier way without removal.
@chrisc4752 жыл бұрын
Good video. For anyone watching this, make sure the stop lever is in the groove of the castle wheel (the 2nd gear installed here). It's very easy to damage.

This helped me replace a datewheel! Thank you! I had to remove a plate on the front and then the rest ways easy.

I would have given you a thumb up except the video quality is so poor one can barely see what you are doing. If you’re going to post instructional videos get equipment that’s up to the job. Otherwise a good instructional.
@photonfab2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the input but this video is super old, and video equipment isn't what it is today. It was made for one person on a forum, and it helped him out.

great, thanks... I used a bit of paper to click back into position... My tweezers were too thick
@tonridderbos35475 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the effort. There is a much simpler way to put the date wheel back: it is attached by means of a bajonet style fitting. Slide it on stem side first and make sure the DW teeth are under the rim of the main cover. You can check that by trying to lift the DW. If it won't move, your are good. Now gently push down on the opposite end of the DW and turn it clockwise. You will feel it 'drop' when the teeth align to the 2 slots of the DW spring cover. Turn little bit further and you will feel the spring 'click' and that's it. Done.

Good video. I was wondering how to do that with the overlay attached. Thank you.

my datewheel is not changing....i have tried to move the hands...should i take it to a jeweller
@nicknack84596 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it was snapped by someone changing the date between 9pm and 3am. 2824, 2836 and others have an arm that engages during 1/4th of the day. If you change the date between this time you will notice stiffness and metal grinding. Eventually the arm will snap and the date will no longer move automatically. Cheap movement to replace though. Especially if you get an asian clone from ebay or similar.

Thank you for your video. I was in trouble and in way over my head beyond my experience level. But thanks to your video, I was able to figure out how to reassemble this movement.

I always liked the 2836-2 with the laches swing out and release the dial feet.... I wish TC 2824-2 had them versus the set screw's holding the dial feet in place!.... Good little vid.. Thanks for sharing!🙃

Great tutorial!!!!! Sadly I couldn't clearly see everything you were doing because of the focus and zoom as suggested by previous person, but I do have some idea on what you have done. Would you believe that my professional experienced watch repair guy is unable to do this and is returning my watch in ten pieces as I haven't agreed to have the Dwo removed.

Followed this procedure and it appeared to work out fine. However now the date wheel jumps off its location when the date changes at midnight or when adjusting. The date wheel jumps out and falls from the movement. Bigdiesel

Rick, are you CONUS? Do you work on TC Subs, or do any custom modding?

Just remove the plate in the middle, its easier that way

Hey man where did you get that intake manifold
@eyekutr11 жыл бұрын
Rick nicely done my friend. I have a better way of attaching the dw dwo unit after keyless repair. You can loosen the screw a bit that is over the calendar gear, opposite the keyless cover. This is done after the keyless is repaired and both covers are placed back. Then you place the stem into the date setting mode, slap on the datewheel and wiggle it on while changing the date...you should be able to have it snap down on the left side and you tighten the screw and done rsh rudy
@photonfab2 жыл бұрын
True but not always an option with certain dwo's. I've ran into quite a few that tightening the screw was not possible without damage to the overlay.

Nope, no "permit" needed, or even availible at the federal level. Each NFA item is processed on individually and each requires a seperate transfer process and tax ($200 or $5 depending on item). The form this happens with is the Form 4, Form 1, or Form 5 (Form 5 is tax free for estate transfers). Law Enforcement doesn't provide the forms. They're provided by the transferor or the manufacturer. Current transfers are running around 3 months.
@Parabellumklr16 жыл бұрын
Actually, buying a machinegun, suppressor, anti-tank gun, sawed off shotgun, etc all are the exact same process and the same one time $200 tax. No permit or lisence is needed.

Yea, but you have to test it in someone first. it's the only way to see the difference. So go out and "test" it on your neighbor, the mailman, grandma, crying babies, your dentist.

No, no need for a permit at all. In fact, I just carry mine into McDonalds and lay it on the table. I even point it, using the laser sight, to let the cashier know what I want to order. Or, while I'm driving, I fire at the radio to change the station.
