Martin Ansell posted a lockdown-in-the-car version of this and, seemingly by accident, left a short pause before the first hookline ("... ... it's just about leaving"). I found that very powerful - a valuable and happy accident which can work on any / all the verses. Hope you are well Paul

There was a video here on KZbin of some great piano accompaniment of this song in THIS key (to use as karaoke to sing in Jennifer Warnes' key) and it now seems to have disappeared! Anyone know the video I'm talking about/the KZbin channel/accompanist? Anyone want to put their own accompaniment of this song in this key back on KZbin? (Please!)

Amazing what one can get from hard work! Carlton and Ford are showing how music can be emotional without big amps and effects. Beautiful.

I had a miracle in Lourdes after praying and kneeling where St Bernadette knelt looking up at and listening to Jesus'Mother Mary telling her of the need to pray to Her Son Jesus Christ for help in this world . Go there and pray and be at peace with the help you'll receive .

A heartfelt classic for these times ...an ignorant asthmatic little girl chosen by God to tell the world of His Unfathomable Love and forgiveness

What a voice! Jennifer Warnes instrument is without artifice. She simply sings a song and let's the words tell its story. It is the opposite of someone like Barbara Streisand, who takes over a song. Rather than allowing the words and music to inhabit her, she imposes her ego into the song and tries to thrill us with her virtuosity. Whether it's the gorgeous melody of Bernadette or the gritty First We Take Manhattan, we are treated to an audio feast for the ears. And by the way, the greatest female chorus of all time was Jennifer along with Bonnie Raitt and K. D. Laing singing background harmonies to the inimitable Roy Orbison in his Black and White concert film.

The show “New Dimensions” introduced me to Jude’s Sill through this song in 1985. She wasn’t well known to me and I found her LPs in 1992 and 1993. Glad the internet gave her a wider audience.

"but I think he must ". Patience is not at all easy. Nor is not doing what you have learned is wrong. Do the next right thing. With that you know, no matter what your patience will be worth it . Patience . Remember, things don't happen because you want them to, they happen when they're supposed to.

This season with United and Wednesday both hanging at the bottom of their leagues just after getting promoted, this episode is timelier than ever.
This song perfectly suits her voice. Beautifully done.
