I being raised in a religious family, I noticed one thing: its even worse when you have grown men raised by a mother who is religious. It's like women work so hard to control lives of the men around them in conjunction with religion, so that they can fight their wars, and perpetually sway them with subtle manipulative antics. I have these two men one my father, the other the brother to my father. These baffovns can't help themselves; so weak minded, fighting addictions, incapable of making solid grounded decisions, lack critical thought, undecided, and perpetually swayed by their mother's dictates and expectations like kids. I on the other hand I serve them, all the three combined, their bvlshit in their faces whenever they try to hook me in; I never incline to my grandmother's ideas and stories concerning children of Israel, and her expectations of ' going to church because when you will die who will burry you?' mantra, nor even take my fathers serious in anything they say, plus other stupid ideas of expecting miracles because you pray, minus foresite of how your life should be, yet abrogating your responsibilities and heaving them upon unseen being. And so it happens that I stay in solitude in our family since, their simple -minded approach in doing things, silly discussions of backstabbing others and thinking they're so good and special,- stories I find loathesome and not having a bearing to how one should conduct their life; and the children they've brainswashed into going to church subsequently, - all of it seems I can't relate with 90% of the time.

Contrary to what many people think, Islam began in the year 610 AD and it is NOT an old religion. Muslims are NOT supposed to kill other Muslims and yet all the Muslim terrorist groups like Hamas etc have no problem killing a fellow Muslim. That's bc they simply say I can kill you bc you do not believe in Islam the way I do and therefore you are not a real Muslim. What I find strange and am disgusted by are celebrities who buy land or properties or homes in Muslim countries knowing how badly they treat women. For example, years ago, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought property in Dubai.

The Quran was apparently(According to the Quran itself) gods word given to the arabs, the arabic speakers, as the word of god in their language. So that they too could understand the word of god. The Quran also confirms that the injeel(Gospel) and the Torah are the words of god. As Hitchens alludes in this video, the Quran was therefore not meant to be a separate religion. It was meant as a translation for arabic speakers of what came before it. Unfortunately for religious peoples of that time and for all after it, The torah, gospels and quran all contradict eachother, as any trilogy separated by several thousands of years,written by man, would be.

Rather than my view, it is better you hear his cherry-picked out-of-context mis-translated quotes and compare them with what is actually intended by all religions as guidelines for a better humanity universally. It's interesting that Hitchens refers to Muhammad as "The Prophet" even though he was an obvious fraud and conman, and an illiterate mass murderer of entire villages, where his men slaughtered whole families, gangraped young girls, and then sold them on the open market as sex slaves. It's in Saudi Arabia's own history of him that he did this, which they don't criticize him for. I wonder if I start calling myself The Last True Prophet, that people will start calling Me that?

My dear old (very bright, always encouraging, characterologically empathetic, alas now gone) college advisor used to say that, as far as he could tell, there's something good & laudatory to be said about every religion, & something cautionary & critical to be said about every religion; leaving to all students the task of leading a moral life (which, in basic outline, virtually all religions agree upon), while doing what it is that responsible students must do - namely, persist in a steadfast, lifelong effort to acquire fair & balanced perspective. In short, Christopher Hitchens is greatly missed. His life work is truly extraordinary, & much to be admired, applauded, & appreciated. Altogether he's one of countless others (the total # is daunting in the extreme) whose life work deserves attention & study. Thank you for this very interesting & informative video!
