My first spark was running, ever since kindergarten, I was naturally good at it without needing to train. My second passion was drawing. Whenever I started, I always aimed to create the biggest, flashiest piece on the paper, which benefited my art grades and presentations because I was seen as valuable. The same applied to sports. In sports, I was forced to play football, which I was naturally bad at, but I could compensate with my natural athleticism and hard training mentality at the time. Sadly, all the hard work didn’t feel worth it when I realized that while I was very fit and could play well, I lacked the fundamentals that others had. This created a huge imposter syndrome that could have been avoided if I had someone to tell me what I was lacking a bit sooner. On the art side, I used to watch a lot of media that teens usually enjoy, and I became interested in the making of those shows, comics, mangas, games, etc. I realized that behind the things I was passionate about were really talented and hardworking people. I told myself, “I can do this,” because I always copied or drew something I liked in detail and had fun with it for hours, usually receiving a lot of appreciation from my classmates and friends. Last year, I started to take things more seriously to develop a toolkit that I can use to create whatever I want. Now I'm just doing it because it helps me cope with a lot of things. It's the only thing I've never truly quit or given up on because I feel no pressure to excel and become the successful entity that 🐍🐍🐍 SSSSOOOCIETY🤡🤡🤡 wants me to be. However, making money from it wouldn't hurt LOL. I should offer my services somewhere. I also enjoy writing in English. God bless. 🗿🗿🗿
@SebmoTV2 ай бұрын
Rookie, awesome reply! Thank you for sharing that, I love your story. Its great that you said art is something that helps you cope with a lot of things, I found this to be the same when I started, a place to escape for a bit. Keep pushing yourself and most importantly, do it for the love of doing it. We often forget that whenever it comes to using our skills. Do not let S O C I E T Y Y ruin that for you Murray...Rookie. As for offering your services, the sooner you start doing that the better it will be for you, put your work out there often, use that as a way to document your own progress. It never hurts to make a bit of money from the things you love. The goal is to get to a stage where you can sustain a living from it and thus spend even more time working on it. Gless bro, thank you for your message. 🗿

yeah..... trying to survive the daily grind of an full time job and hoping one day, i feel comfortable enough to draw again. I want to be an full time artist but, i keep thinking art as an money maker rather than just having fun. i need to step away from studies on top of studies and just draw what i want and be happy with it.
@SebmoTV3 ай бұрын
I get you completely mate. The full time job whilst doing this gets difficult. I do the same thing with it but since changing my youtube from a side job to a fun hobby that I love doing, it has made it feel so much less stressful. Maybe this is a good key to getting more enjoyment out of the things we initially did because we enjoy them! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your drawing again.

Thanks man, I'm halfway through the video. Underrated stuff right here, 30 views atm. This is an eye opener. I really wanna make a channel for just my art, but perfectionism and making it wanna be like a part time job, for it to work out. So that I can draw more, makes me like stop drawing. My sketchbook it hasn't been touched in like almost a month now. I did drew in my notebooks for class and stuff. I do hope I'm actually gonna eternalize this advice. Thanks again, this is also really nice to listen too. I'm gonna start being my sketchbook and doodle when I get the change too, even though it's not perfect and stuff. I'm gonna try to get that healthy relationship. Edit: To anybody there trying new things is really fun, watercolor, gouache, poster paint, digital art but with new styles, heck new sports, instruments piano. It's really refreshing. I don't even know how to do the basics of piano, but it's fun. New experiences.
@SebmoTV3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind message, seriously Good work with trying to find a balance, it really is not easy. When it comes to perfectionism, I always wondered what it was like to live with as I never really had that pain, apart from a few areas maybe. The piece of advice I loved when I heard it was that Perfectionism is the killer of good work, a tough battle to fight buy I hope that some day you can overcome that fear of something not being perfect. My philosophy is to treat everything like a scratchpad or a rough sketchbook, my KZbin channel is full of videos because I want to keep trying things and keep 'sketching' different ideas, for them to live on and be there for whenever it is I work things out. So do not be afraid if you post something that is not the best, it will be there for you to analyze what you can do better next time. I hope you get the itch to pick up the sketchbook soon and I really wish that you start sharing that on a KZbin channel. There is a lot of people on the platform already but there are always places for someone to fit in. Have a great day and good luck! Thank you again for your time and message :D

The thing with me is that I just stay in my comfort zone most of the time while drawing. I usually go to the "next step" when I feel unsatisfied with the way I draw a body part or object; it feels like figuring out a puzzle. I tend to use my memory rather than references because I feel too much friction in finding specific photos of what I want to draw. This is how I keep going: I usually make it really easy to start drawing by keeping my sketchbook open and my materials directly next to me, since it would create too much friction if I had to open my book and search for my pen in the drawer. I know comfort kills progress, but my goal is to keep drawing for the next 50 years or even more. I want to express my sincere gratitude for all the effort you’ve put in this week Seb. I feel incredibly lucky to have found your channel, it has made a positive impact on my Art journey. Wishing you all the best as you pursue your own goals!☝️🗿☝️🗿

Thank you so much for your message rookie! Gratitude right back at you for being here and believing in the work. I love your approach and I think that it is one that will get you exactly where you want to go. Friction and resistance are massive killers for me, I have been working a long time on creating a workspace that has as little of it as possible as it has really hindered my work before. I remember a really good book that I read on resistance, I think it was The War of Art, since then I have been trying to fight it haha. I think naturally, if you keep going the way you are, you are going to push yourself and succeed. Fantastic approach and thank you again for your message, I feel very lucky to have this awesome community building here. 🗿🗿🗿🗿

Ayo lets go! 🙌 But for real though, the title in this vid alone speaks such profound truth. Oftentimes we get side tracked and forget why we ever first started drawing to hegin with. The pressure, the drive to get better at a quick pace it all takes its toll and we forget that drawing should be both educational and fun. Remembering why we ventured out to begin with is always so helpful!

I DID IT AGAIN. I am so glad I discovered this series. I look forward to coming here to get at least some practice in on those days that it seems too overwhelming to do art on. Man, your advice, commentary and entire presence/vibe is just a blessing at this point, man. Just gentle, reassuring, encouraging and basically all that a struggling beginner artist needs to hear to keep them on the right track. Self-doubt and negativity are some of the biggest ailments we have and it's good to have wholesome, soothing and productive content of this nature for us to confide in. This kind of content is needed. You're so right about going against the grain, coz there's TOO much of that damn fast paced content that ultimately isn't helpful. THIS, though....IS. It's SO helpful. @@SebmoTV Hey thank you for your response. I don't blame you for losing a bit of that motivation. Content creation is a brutal game and has been for a while now.
