When I first heard this track in the game I was so strucken with a feeling of despair yet peace in a weird way, these scores are so inspiring and fantasy driven I love it !

i remember playing the game for the first time coming right from Skyrim. The song started playing as snow dropped to the ground in the busy streets and I remember stopping and just taking in. It was just the music alone that made the world feel so whimsical and fantasy like.

My first TES game was Skyrim. Tried Arena in 2022. Although its gameplay did not age well, but its atmosphere feels no less magical than in the (relatively) modern games of the series

I was playing before Christmas time, a cold and snowy evening. I load my latest save of Daggerfall and am greeted for the first time by this soundtrack. I paused my game to make myself a hot chocolate beverage and properly enjoyed the music, looking over the snowy mountains outside of Shedungent.

@CryptToneMusic the Daggerfall ost (1997) owes more to the early Final Fantasy ost than DS. Best example i can give is the FFIV ost (1991). they utilize early Roland/Yamaha modules, that's what makes them sound so similar. These composers probably used MIDI and paid DAW software too, given how few people actually knew about music production back then. for DS artists, loop pedals for playback before studio recording sessions
@CryptToneMusicАй бұрын
@AntonAugustus yeah I imagine there's not much of a connection between the two at least not back when it came out. But it's cool how what is possible now with free software or even a phone has opened up so many possibilities for Dungeon Synth artists and has basically ended up becoming something similar sounding to classic game soundtracks that Dungeon Synth artists back then might not have known about or been able to recreate if they did know of it. I don't know if I'm making much sense I just think it's an interesting evolution
