Thanks Shae for really inspiring natural ways we learn - I love to see the connections with your patterns and the Integral City Maps - which I think derive from those patterns.

There are MANY flash-points in the world but NONE is arguably as volatile as the mid-east is!!! Having followed the mid-east news for the last sixty years, this commentator feels that the mid-east will NEVER be stable. There is also no SINGLE mid-east conflict. There is a MULTITUDE of them. It's a cauldron that goes back LONG in history and it's almost impossible to analyze. Even so, the Israeli-Arab conflict is the major one, and its root cause lies in HOW the Brits handled the Palestinian Mandate after WW II. Israel and its Western benefactors dismiss the history of the region. They dismiss how the Jewish migration, mostly from Eastern Europe occurred even before WW II and how it surged after WW II. No wonder that most, if not all, of the founders of Israel came from Eastern Europe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographic_history_of_Palestine_(region) They dismiss that the so-called UN resolution in 1948 to create Israel was undertaken WITHOUT the participation of the local population of Palestine. They dismiss that EVEN though Palestine was to be divided into an Arab State and a Jewish State and that the area of Jerusalem was to be administered by an International Trusteeship, Israel ILLEGALLY annexed the majority of Arab areas. Check the map of the region published by National Geographic Magazine, Dec 1947 issue, Page 742. They dismiss the hugely disproportionate Israeli responses that resulted in Arab deaths by the THOUSANDS during and since the creation of Israel!! One can go on and on. Given this backdrop and even though Palestinians are partly responsible for their transgressions, it is HIGHLY unlikely that this particular Israel-Palestinian conflict will stop. As it is, even if Israel decimates Hamas for the right reasons, it has ALREADY sown the seed of Hamas-like organization to arise in five, ten, fifteen..... years from now!! So we will face this again and again and again. George Santayana, the Spanish-American philosopher had said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” (George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905)

Many thanks to all the speakers at this meeting. If I try to put together all the things that have been said in the space: a history of conflicts, the reduction of the extremists and ideologues from all sides (Neri and Said), the wisdom of Gaia (Alexander) and of femininity (Merlin), being of peace (Alexander), creating a critical mass ( David), real action with funding and organization (David and Neri), and taking them to real action, I come to the conclusion that the key to the solution lies in supportive work with the extremists. 1. It is a mistake to think that the moderates- center can be strengthened, and then the extremists will weaken. It is much more important to work directly with the religious red and blue. They are the ones who disrupt the most, they are the ones who are impervious to change, they are the ones we avoid recognizing out of empathy and love. 2. It is difficult. It requires a mass of people like us, a budget, connections in the most difficult societies and to change our priorities - to talk more with them and less with the center and with ourselves. 3. The red and blue, the Tea Party Club, Trump, Hamas, the Jewish extremist settlers - all of these are part of Gaia. They have wisdom and healthy qualities. They have healthy gifts and qualities within their value system. 4. The red and blue extremists listen to their leaders much more than the more developed Vmeme's. If we concentrate effort in talking with their leaders, especially with religious leaders in the case of the Middle East we can make a change. Instead, most peace diplomacy is centered on talking to politicians or to the "citizens" below. When you understand that, then you realize that there is hope for change. 5. Personally, I already have a list of ideas on how to do this, and except for very few ones, I have not been able to organize a group coming together as a think tank, I have not been able to raise money and I have not been able to make any real action happen. Maybe I'm not the right person to organize it. I am calling here for those who can help to take a real practical initiative to do it. with me or without me. If there is someone like that here, you are welcome to contact me personally and I will share these ideas with you. Maybe (David Gershon can you help?).

This was an incredible session of heart-centered leaders from around the globe; South Africa, Paris, Sacramento, Ethiopia...so many others . I had the honor to co-facilitate with one of our longest volunteers who I met while incarcerated. She was responsible for the letter that led to the creating of the FreedomtoChoose Project now teaching compassionate experiential education in 37 California prisons! What a day! at 57:50 she and I do an education session together on the skill called "Celebrating Diversity" and I get to hear the real story behind what inspired her letter!
