People often say that UpStead was more emotional, but what they don't get is that the makers needed for them to connect with jay after erin left, and that's why the season after erin left, jay had two emotional ones, one about the army and the other about his dad. If, and only if, they had shown erin helping him deal with his father's loss, or him trying to talk about his army days with Erin in the earlier season, people would have found the emotional connection right there. This was all a strategy for us to accept Jay's heartbreak, if not, how can anyone explain them not talking about his army life for atleast 1.5-2 years when they were in a relationship, I mean you wake up next to your boyfriend- he has nightmares, insomnia, and yet you never talk to him about it, or never try to help him? And then comes someone else who just is ready to help him cope from his trauma. I don't think that is possible or if that even makes sense. Otherwise Erin's character was just perfect, but for the audiences to accept hailey they had to do erin dirty, to potray her as toxic for jay, but the truth was erin was far from toxic. From where she came, how she lived her life earlier, she was still ready to open her heart for jay, he was the one who moved out and i get it, that he was still married, but still he broke her heart first, and not vice versa.

I keep thinking about that scene where Carina's in the shower and she's talking about how she wants so badly to scream but she's afraid if she screams, she'll never stop. That's EXACTLY how acute grief feels.

everyone in this comment section is not serious about Linstead. people clearly only watched the show to fill their love lives or never been with an actual person before because to say Erin was toxic or never there for Jay? were we actually all watching the same show? Erin kept everything to herself which is understandable because of how she grew up but eventually will talk it out. you literally had to b*at it out of Jay for him to speak his feelings. he kept most things about his past hidden but felt like he needed to know EVERYTHING about Erin, not to mention he broke up with her cause he was married! it’s a year later so i’mma stop here..

You will be happy again, never fully happy, as no matter how much joy come into your life, he will always be missing from it... that part of you that died with him leaves a hole in your life forever...but you will be happy. I know, I've been where you are now, its been years since my brother was killed in an accident, I never got to say goodbye. Stay strong, it dose get better.

I started the show for linstead and ended it when they did. Idk but when they ended officially I was so heartbroken I stopped watching the show, especially since they added a new character, their are times I wanna watch the show but her leaving broke my heart. Even though it was kind of toxic, but can we not compare two different ships, two different characters who are completely different to uplift ur ship….

I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters. 1 of each are younger then me, the rest are older. And we don't always get along. But, if anything ever happened to them. I don't think I'd survive it.. I couldn't imagine coming home knowing I'd never see one of them again..
