I've been writing songs and using suno to check lyric flow in suno for a couple weeks now. Using it as a song prototyping tool is honestly kind of amazing. You can even upload your own tune \*looks over at my guitar and violin.\* and see how it would fit those lyrics into a track. Seriously, anyone not using it to at least bounce ideas off of is completely missing out. I'm *almost* considering learning how to play drums so I can get specific beats and patterns, because getting a good kick rhythm in some songs is a pain in the ass that could be fixed with a bit of direction from a drum recording.

I just subbed to this myself yesterday, it's scary good and I'm so blown away by it. So far I've been using it to make funny songs to send to my friends. This is a great tool for like birthday cards or some other novelty. But we can use it as a way to just hear an idea play out and then just extract from it part of the progression or melody and evolve it yourself. I think that's more likely how it'll be used by musicians and bands. Then there's the ones who will use it for making backing beats or just coming up with lyric ideas.

The point of making music as a human? AI can always produce SOMETHING, quite often a very good "something", but it does not produce those very works I am going to produce. It does not express the particular ideas that I intend to express. There is still room for both of us. AI may kill music as a profession, but not music as art.

Nothing can beat personal inspiration, natural human mistakes, and the feeling of playing and or vocalizing to the rythm. On top of that you will have the occasional fans that love to do in depth research on how the song was made. So the friendships and curiosity will make your music thrive longer. However this will probably make starting out harder, more experimentation, and will encourage more connectivity.

v3 is much better than v2 at audio quality, creativity, and genre awareness. But it struggles a lot harder with sticking to the provided lyrics, so much so that it's useless if you're trying to stitch together continuations for a full pre-written song. Which is why I stick to v2. It's still in alpha, though, so I'm sure it'll get better by the time the official full release is ready. In the meantime, I recently tried using v3 for the first generation, then continuing the rest of the song with v2 to maintain the lyrics, and that seemed to work decently well, so I may stick to that approach for now. The answer to "if AI can do it, why should humans do it at all?" is simple: because you like doing it and you have something to say. If the only (or even main) reason you're doing it is for the money, then you aren't really making art in the first place, in my opinion.

that is actually crazy! Although i dont think it will ever match up to the creativity of humans, as it is trained off humans then i dont see how it would be able to innovate like humans.

@@IceMetalPunkyea but is AI capable of, for example, growing up in poverty and putting life experience to use along with innovation and the history of black music to create hip hop. Hip hop which was made in poverty and sampled mostly American black music which again was a result of other huge historical occurrences . That’s only a human experience. So much music and art comes only from a human experience. I’m not saying new ideas can’t come from ai as a tool, it absolutely can and that can become part of a human experience as a direct experience between humans and machine learning. The same way that along with the advancement of technology synthesisers enabled us to create new music, but remember it’s not the synthesiser alone that creates this, it’s the environment that goes hand in hand with this technology. The real life things that happen such as the economy, the fashion, everything actually happening in the real world that humans experience . But There is certain music that comes from being human and as direct response of our environment. The day AI creates something seminal without any human involvement and actually shifts the influence of what art / music can be is something entirely different. What is concerning is that innovation stagnates because music becomes so devalued and there is no more input / content for machine learning to take from. All ai is currently doing is with any art is creating something believable and passable, which is very disruptive, yes, and threatens so much of the economy.

The POINT, is returning to what it WAS, before MONEY and FAME was the driving factor: PERSONAL ENJOYMENT and SATISFACTION. If you DON'T LIKE making music for creativity's sake, DON'T DO IT.
@IceMetalPunk9 ай бұрын
Agreed. I understand that we all need to eat, and that we can't eat unless someone pays us for what we do, but that's a problem with society/capitalism, not with tech or AI. If money is the main (or worse, only) reason to make art, then you're not really making art anyway, imho.

yuh... this is kind of scary. Stock footage will most likely be replaced by the AI. Like background music for creators... all they need is to set the description and mood. And it's done within seconds. It's mental... I never imagined that art would be the thing that would be replaced by AI. The truth is that for the most part art is just inspiration at this point. People hear stuff and it stays in the back of their mind. And it's just a combination of different inspirations and this is what AI does in a nutshell. Even people can feed their own material to the AI to have it come up with different ideas. This looks pretty bad. We're in some dystopian, Cyberpunk future right now where there will be division among people some will believe in the all natural approach while some will say that AI is the future. We're screwed

@saysthemanbehindthemask9 ай бұрын
@@brianmi40 Stock footage, that's correct. That is what is easily an option right now. I've seen Sora. Movies is... not yet. Even if it happens there will be regulations and whatnot. You really can't predict how it will go because there may very well be new regulations implemented. I can't imagine billion dollar industries just folding over and allowing to release stuff without actual people behind it. It's going to rob people of jobs... the repercussions of this are quite serious. Also, people can't relate to a robot. It may be fun for a while but will it stick? Only time will tell. But to be completely honest people will most likely implement the AI use to some degree but it will be limited... just like KZbin was at one point a Wild West it is now very much regulated. This is serious because designers, film makers... and later on probably accountant ants and pretty much every other profession that is not manual labour will be possible to replace with AI. Which implies that loads of people will be out of a job which will lead to a huge economic crisis. Even programmers who make the AI will become obsolete because AI will be able to do what they do faster than a person can if some idiot programmer who thinks he's smart will write an AI that can perform a certain task. That's why I ultimately think that the AI with limited capabilities will be allowed. Otherwise we are looking at some Terminator type future. And the pace the AI is evolving at is pretty damming. It's actually scary.

It's impressive but I'd like to see it produce a complex rhythm and time signature like, say, a Sting song. A lot of music has gotten more electronic and "simpler" from a musician skill standpoint. I would expect AI to be able to reproduce that kind of thing. As the technology gets better, I'm worried that humanity is going to lose an idea of what it means to be a musician and what musical talent actually is. One day, we'll hear a real musician and think, "what is this crap?" I dread that day.
