It tells you just how perfect Gordon was on that first release, including the outstanding sound and backup. (His "affair on eight avenue " from UK live was perfectly done! Second best song for him.) This is the best pop sing ever!!!!

I wish I could listen to it, but that squeaky sound when changing chords are so hard on my ears. I'm sure it's good otherwise, but my ears require a version that doesn't contain that sound. I've found this version to love by a guy who's a guitar virtuoso and an amazing singer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH_NnIVojJ5_a8U

Alan, this is a magical and touching rendition of one of Gordon Lightfoot's greatest compositions. This rendition is how this work should be performed. (It is a shame that United Artists covered up the original Lightfoot solo guitar version with the string overdubs for 1960's AM radio audiences.) Thank you for posting this beautiful performance of a work that is one of the great "forgotten" love songs. It is seldom heard now, but cherished by all who know it.

Alan... This is one of my all time favorite songs and this video is by far the best cover I've seen of it. It's such a beautiful song and you did such a beautiful job with it. In Gordon Lightfoots original version the wonderful guitar work is all covered up by the string instruments and filler but not so in this simple but very appealing version. So very nice! My hat is off to you Alan. Thank you!
@gardendor113 жыл бұрын
What wonderful guitar playing. This is the best cover I've heard so far of GL's The Last Time. But noone could sing it better then Lightfoot himself in the early day. I consider this tune one of Lightfoot's best. [Although he has many "bests"]. I never heard of Alan Thornhill, but now I will seek him out. I love discovering new artists. KZbin is one of the best things that has happened to the internet.
