Very strange dance, seems to glamorize domestic violence. This version is updated, because back in the day it was the woman getting beat. Not my favorite.

I like this Polka style a lot better than some of the popular bands now. No blaring trumpet and heavy drums

I first saw, what we then called."Apache Dancers" on a TV variety show in the mid-50s, and had never forgotten it. It was danced to "Let Me Go, Lover". I probably remember it because my father bought the 45, recorded by Joan Weber, and my sister and I would dance our own version. Badly, but with great enthusiasm.

I come from a large Polish family and I was at a family wedding at a fancy hotel. Band was playing American music and everyone was just sitting around leaving the dance floor deserted. I knew the band was actually a polka band so I went up to the leader and told him we were Polish and wanted some polkas. They were thrilled go comply. It only took 30 seconds before the dance floor was packed and it stayed that way the rest of the evening. The groom's family (not Polish) said it was the best wedding reception ever.
