Man I just bought a brand new looking mini mac 120 for 25 bucks with the case 3 chains. The bar is barely even worn. And then just today I bought a a almost mint furry Eager beev for 20 bucks with two chains. The original bar is bearly even scratched. Both start 3 or 5 pull. I'm Syked becuase the first two I have looked like to got pounded on by the entire town. The 25 I have took me a while to realize the clutch drum rim sproket was blown out. Was so hard to move the chain. Took me forever to figure that out. I just didn't even think about it. Nice video though. Not to many mini macs vids

Hi MM, hi, can you still get new or used gas tanks for a 120? I'm asking because I have one I'm trying to rebhab and all seems good so far but I wonder what's the chance that the gas which has been in there for decades, I think, clogging up whatever is in the bottom of the gas tank. I flushed the gas tank w WD-40 waited and a brown lacguer comes out but very slowly.

Do you need to take the handle off to pull the engine out or just the bolts under the saw behind the air filter the tab under the saw and the bolt by the trigger and the front cover bolts

hhmmm.....why in the world are/were these device`s battery compartments not soldered to withstand the small force that the clips need to hold them in place longer?

I give you credit for horsing with this thing. We have a 2006 HHR (and it's 2023) and ours hasn't worked forever. The case has a crack, the battery holder was disconnected on one side (like yours), and the contacts were bad (I tested them using some tin foil and got the thing to "kinda" work). I just went on Amazon and bought a genuine GM replacement for 37 bucks (with shipping) and the Chevy dealership in town said they'd program the thing for 25 bucks. Good job and you've got more patience (and better soldering skills) than me. Maybe if it breaks again I''ll try to fix the damned thing.

If it’s still screwy you can always goto a local locksmith shop for more than half off of what a high priced dealer would charge for a new fob.

Hey manic I have a question. I have a 2004 cts with the mother board that has the contact buttons like that mother board and I ordered a smart fitcamx smart key fob and I'm wondering if I can soder the contacts? It requires sodering the wires onto the buttons
@ManicMender
@ManicMender 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing what your trying to do. I looked up those key fobs, those look pretty cool. As for the soldering, yes, you should be able to solder directly to the copper contacts. They are made out of the same copper foil as the every other contact on the board. You will likely want to add a bit of flux to the contact, then add a bit of solder onto the contacts, then solder the wires to them accordingly. Let us know how it goes.

@ManicMender
@ManicMender 2 жыл бұрын
It's a 45 watt iron, old school no temperature adjustments. Usually these run around 450deg C.

@@EASTENDGLEN Thing is your missing the point here. This is for people who don't have an entire solder rework station just hanging out at their disposal. This is for regular folk to get their key fob working and avoid the dealer. Plenty of people have gained knowledge from this post over the several years it's been up. Please keep the comments constructive or move on.

@@EASTENDGLEN ok bub, just about had it with keyboard warriors like you. My teaching in this video was not only perfectly fine, but has worked for several people before you showed up and many after you, and the hundreds of simple circuit repairs I've completed on more devices then I care to share. It's people like you, who have self-served master degrees in whatever suits your argument today that ruins the experience for others on KZbin and all other social media. I see your channel has a few videos of nothing even closely related, and somehow you pop on and tear somebody down. You go ahead and post a video showing everyone the "correct way" to solder a simple circuit, and then maybe I'll validate your bogus claim that my teachings are not correct. Otherwise, I will block you from commenting further, as I told you before be constructive or bug off.

Mine doesn't look like this. Yours looks somewhat through hole whereas mine is surface mounted. One of them has been badly repaired already. I just don't understand how this retaining piece works. Its just a piece of metal with 4 fingers sticking out. 2 on each side. I would think it would bridge the ground and +, so its odd as to how it works.

Hi I am writing to you from Italy, they gave me an old Mcculloch 120 chainsaw, I did a restoration, but I have a problem with the piston rings. I removed the piston to replace the rings, but now I don't know how to put them back because the piston does not have a pin (stop / fixed connection point for the rings). I knew that in 2-stroke engines, the rings can rotate on the piston and break at a cylinder exhaust port. So what do you advise me? In what position should they be placed? Thanks.
