I Caught this video just a little late Mark. I'm 61 years old sir and I stopped gaming a while ago do to IRL crap. I always said I would pick it up later it was always later. I am taking your advice. I am building a table for a solo Fire in the East game, and I am reading Squad Leader and Panzer Leader, 2 games off your top 10 list and mine : ). Gonna try to find Vassal opponents to say thanks. Turning over a new leaf thanks to you. Thank you for the kick in the behind. I hope I can thank you in person sometime in the future and maybe play a Squad Leader scenario. Thank you for sharing so much.

I just cued this up again today, will watch it tonight. That was a fun conversation. I think Brian and I had just returned from an 11-hour road trip. I recall I was pretty tired, but it certainly was time well spent. RIP Mark.

Great series. Get General 27:2 to fix the only problem I had with the series, the lack of reaction rules. Good luck on the treatments brother.

Mark, I only know you from online, but I can say for certainty that anyone who made your acquaintance, whether wargaming or otherwise, is lucky to have known you. You set the bar for how someone should carry themselves and treat others in this hobby. I won't ever forget the kindness, strength, and bravery you've shown. Thank you for everything.

Mark, you’ve been a true inspiration on so many levels. I’ve never heard you utter a negative word about any game that you’ve played or heard of. You’ve always respected the design and the passion that went into each. Your love of life and love of fellow players is always evident. Your words are wise, live in the moment. See you on the other side, brother!

Hi again, Mark. I have been thinking about this video since I first watched it and I watched it again this morning. I think I will come back to it many times in the future. You are a kind of "everyman" for me and, I suspect, many of us. We are of similar age. We came to wargames in a very similar way and at very similar times in our lives. We share our politics. I have known and worked with many, many amazing SEIU members and leaders and I deeply respect their work. It has been fun listening to your "Best of..." series, both for the games you chose and for the stories about your experience of those games you tell, so similar to mine. Somehow, watching you in this moment makes me feel seen, gives me a connection to a common life experience that is quite a rare feeling for me. And, being even a bit older than you, I cannot help but peer over the wall myself into the great beyond. You standing on the wall with such poise, peace, dignity, and courage is indescribably healing for me. And your clear, brilliant reminder to enjoy every moment is something I have heard a million times but in your voice resonates and attaches itself to me with a truth that I believe will stick with me. Your voice will be in my ear, reminding me of how to live. And, when the time comes for me to stand on that wall, I hope your voice and example will carry me through that too. There is a beautiful song in Hamilton about George Washington (the greatest American) called "One Last Time." As Washington is choosing not to run for third term and going home for his few remaining years, Hamilton helps Washington write his farewell speech. Washington says: "One last time The people will hear from me One last time And if we get this right We’re gonna teach ‘em how to say Goodbye Teach them How to Say Goodbye." I hope you don't mind me quoting a play. In my mind it is the highest honor. I thank you sir and send you strength and love and gratitude. I wish you peace and love, eternally. Craig Foster

Mark, I am so sorry that I discovered your channel so late, but I wanted to tell you how much I have enjoyed watching your videos and listening to you share your love of wargaming. You inspired me to get back into wargaming after 25 years, and I am now passing that love down to my teenage son so that we keep this wonderful hobby going. Thank you so much for your service and for being such an advocate for our hobby. I hope your days are filled with comfort, family and great memories.
