I love the reaction to the sokoban section! I remember when we came up with -> and we went... wait, if we combine this with ? and protection we can literally just do sokoban :D

will your Chroma Zero playthrough ever have a Part Zero? :thinking :

Yeah, after my part number gets too high and we get unsigned integer overflow.

@Tetramouse-h6v Haha, I was hoping this series would be exactly 6 or 7 episodes long, which would have been perfect, but alas it is not.

1:11:36 I seem to have got everything earlier than this point, but am also having absolutely no clue about the painting and the baby’s name. I wonder if it should be left blank, let’s see... Wait I accidentally spoiled myself from another comment what the baby name is. Oh no. And oh well, seemingly not nearly everything enough. There are still so many details I would’ve not noticed!
@superuniform65486 күн бұрын
I also had the same reaction when seeing this mechanic, but it was false alert and not as difficult as i thought it would get
@05degrees6 күн бұрын
9:41 WHAT BTW there’s another mechanism to add to the budget cost-free if you have anything at all. I guess there might be even more of them different ones if there are two.

Binding was communicated a little bit ambiguous to my taste. You just need to hold F for three or how many seconds beforehand to be able to use it in the whole run. Then it will look more obvious with added icons. That was the time I opened Dialog log myself.

I like how you said "this feels like an infinite source of stuff though", like it's a bad thing. I think most players discover this condition before they're told it.
@JoePlaysPuzzleGames7 күн бұрын
Haha, that's my puzzling instincts. An infinite source without any cost tends to be bad for puzzles, which are all about constraints and weighing up costs!
@JoePlaysPuzzleGames7 күн бұрын
And fwiw, this _still_ feels odd. What felt like the core mechanic of the game (and one of the more interesting systems in the game to me) very suddenly becomes obsolete.

Hey Joe, in case you didn’t record much of this game in advance - since it’s loop based, can you have small reminder of what happened in previous episode? So it’s a bit easier to track what you did and what not
@JoePlaysPuzzleGames9 күн бұрын
Is the recap I do at 0:45 not sufficient? I think I do that in most videos, mainly as a reminder to myself. Beyond that, I don't think I can remember exactly what happened in the previous video!
@airhater9 күн бұрын
@@JoePlaysPuzzleGames it is indeed sufficient for the first episode, but i wanted to mention it in advance for the next episodes aswell, since game gets a bit more convoluted
@JoePlaysPuzzleGames9 күн бұрын
@@airhater Can't promise my recaps will be particularly good, but I would pretty much always do something similar to this episode. Hopefully that's okay!

This is the only one I used hints on. I was so far off track that I thought Isaac was Hunter Wolf. When he stated he would give up everything to educate the world, he would go as far to have his own memories taken. Now this wouldn't work of course given the circumstances, but I was so wrong that I needed hints to get me back on track.

Nice job! I'm excited to binge this! I kind of think the new UI format might make it easier for you to collect words and form a hypothesis before looking at the "events" page. Since it's not all on one page you can fill some things in without looking at others.

Yeah, there *is* a different ending if you don't complete all 24 puzzles, but unfortunately there's no way to see it once you've done so - you need a new playthrough (or just watch it on KZbin). It would have made a lot of sense if it played whenever you ended via the central puzzle, but no such luck. Great work finishing! I think the devs' puzzle design skills have improved a lot over time; Into the Abyss is a strong mix of difficult and interesting puzzles, and just plain weird puzzles. This was probably commented on your main playthrough, but yeah, it's a very common sentiment that Talos 2's writing is just too blunt and lacking in nuance. It's definitely deliberate on the part of the main writer - he's just not interested in subtlety - but it makes the story tough going even if you do agree with the sentiments it's pushing. Thanks for the videos, and good luck with your next game!

I recently finished the game and I'm hooked, still doing the daily challenges and hoping they'll release something new, whether it's some DLC or a game with similar shenanigans. It's so nice to watch someone go through the same "omg this is so good" at the end of each puzzle like I did while I was figuring out the mechanics.
@knowledgeacquirer293112 күн бұрын
I'm a bit amused that even after recognising EB's can create question marks, you still used them to create letters even though it's objectively better to always make question marks with them; it accounts for either scenario of using a tile once or multiple times.
@raindrinker_dev12 күн бұрын
Not being able to interpret multiple ?s as things at the same time is the one mechanical difference between book and game :) And yeah, people get hung up on that world puzzle very often!

Yeay, congrats Joe. I was a bit surprised you liked Abyss the most because, if I recall correctly, I think you used the words 'horrendous' and 'disgusting' most often in there ( 😉) , and because there were a lot of puzzles that were very similar to or variations of others. But I unterstand your reasoning. I love hearing your thoughts on the philosophical messages and how they are argued in the dialogue. You're right, though writers often have to quantise several shades of grey into a small, relatively palatable number of fixed shades, which almost always include black and white. I enjoyed watching your play through and commentry, which made me laugh several times, so thank you again. I'm sure they will make Talos 3 and it will be set in space, whether on a space station or planets - I don't mind. I hope they add more items to use and/or colours of lasers. And I wonder if humans will by then have figured out how to manufacture cubes, connectors and everything else from the same materials as themselves, so they can finally do away with those pesky purple barriers!🤞

You just *had* to ask for puzzles to have more cables, didn't you?!? 🙄 I wonder if Croteam have stats on how many players complete each puzzle in this area? Currently 5.2 percent have the achievement for completing all Abyss puzzles, which is higher than I expected given that they hired an evil genius to design most of them! 😉
@lopesdoria15 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure the drop had nothing to do with it and that solution would work with the inverter already in place. I think the main insight was realizing that the conector that interrupts the red laser had to be close to the red source but far from the blue source in order for the lasers to collide and the interrupting laser to stop.

Also the most important part of 17 is not that you're interrupting the laser, but that you're blocking the connector to emit *any* lasers
