Great car to drive (I have a mk3 facelift) but prone to parking brake faults which is usually down to the scuttle drains becoming blocked, flooding into the front footwells, which then flood into the carpets where the loom is that carries the wires for the rear speakers, boot interior light and parking brake (amongst other stuff). I currently have errors for all 3. Oh and they love blowing injectors 😂. Lovely when working though!

The opposition strongly relies on medical studies about dangers of cannabis and then shout out that doctors can do terrible things, this is a very weak argumentation...Actually, he doesn't have any good and strong argumentation for prohibition, the psychotic argument is way too weak regarding all other concerns about legalisation

I had to stop at 17mins because of Peter Hitchens opens up his debate trying to portray peoples " opinions " based on nothing but opinion as facts that HAVE to be taken as FACT ... What a fucking ignorant tool he is .. He clearly has not researched anything factual and is being paid to represent a pathetic argument like so many of these so called " Scientists and universities " do ( all paid and run by the people who want to keep big pharma running nicely while feeding you cancer through your food and drink ).... Funny how the Scientists around the world are saying the opposite and have proof to back up their arguments and ot just " opinions " and are not finding all of this bullshit being spouted by these so called " Professionals " in England....... Professional liars is about all they are ..

I personally feel the problem is the way the proposer handled the debate. I can't be bothered to type it out but they both sound like their bickering, more than debating. Throwing statistics back and forth but not really showing a bigger picture for either side past the mainline sight of what they personally want. There were better ways for the proposer to validate further into his own points too. It's a shame as I'm for the change, but I feel like I always do in these types of situations, poorly represented as a person and community.

"...But we should address in this debate, that any substance with that sort of risk attached to it, (Renolds said himself, NO EVIDENCE that is causes psychosis, just opinions) should be treated with more caution." - Peter Hitchens. Tobacco is scientifically PROVEN to cause various cancers and weaken the immune system, Alcohol is PROVEN to kill brain cells, cause 7 different types of cancers and weaken the immune system - TOTALLY LEGAL AND THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T MAKE THEM PAY TAX. You can't win, Peter. Also, EQUALLY CANNABIS WITH PROSTITUTION, ARE YOU A MANIAC? I miss Christopher...

+CanniRap? Peter's claim that the (baring in mind, doesn't exist yet because it's illegal) "cannabis industry" is making up stuff about the health benefits can't make sense. It's scientists, who are making these claims, not a bunch of rich dudes. Our science is like waaaaay better than before and it's something that is being told globally.

Psychosis does not have to be 'the end of your happy life' Mr Hitchens. That is actually an insult to those who suffer from it. Yes I'm sure it is devastating. But there are many with schizophrenia who get it under control and do lead happy lives - see elyn saks for example!

I think the anecdote of Peter Hitchens's friend's son is perhaps what makes him so vehement in his vendetta against cannabis. In the same way a child of an alcoholic would grow to despise alcohol and shun it against the majority's willingness to embrace it. Therefore I can sympathise with Hitchen's plight and understand why he takes the position he does against cannabis. However, I believe that whereas skunk and the crap that has flooded the UK market is terrible and can aggravate psychosis, the disregard for the organic, natural low thc CBd rich strains of cannabis and their therapeutic potential is astounding. High potency cannabis and organic cannabis are two completely different drugs with totally different properties. CBD can cure mental illness and psychosis and the weed we need is that which contains high levels of this stuff. Until the market is regulated and selling these healthy strains, I refuse to smoke that thc, paranoia inducing crap that persists on the market.

Poison is also defined as "a substance that is capable of causing the illness or death of a living organism when introduced or absorbed." The LD50 of cannabis is around 1: 20,000 or 1: 40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response. Peter Hitchens is wrong.

I like the way Peter Hitches can articulate himself and he is a very good debater too. I just wish he himself would smoke some cannabis or do a psychedelic. Because it is very evident that he suffers from the playpen of ordinary consciousness.

As a person who has grown up in the laws in place and has recently turned 18 i can testify to the fact that getting alcohol or cigarettes isn't impossible but it is a lot harder than getting weed. From my personal experience i think that if weed was legal i'd have had a harder time getting hold of it and on Peter Hitchens point about if it's legal it is seen as not bad or acceptable, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be legal it means that the facts need to be given to children about it so they know why they shouldn't use it the same as with cigarettes and some people still choose to smoke even knowing the information and facts but thats their choice

I agree on your point on its availability illegally and nowadays you can order legal highs which have the same effect as illegal drugs, with no age verification.
@Victoriacariad
@Victoriacariad 10 жыл бұрын
I'm 21 and I can also testify that getting alcohol and cigarettes isn't impossible. Although personally I found it very easy, perhaps it was due to where I live...infact in the village next to my highschool there were 2 corner shops selling alcohol, as well as three pubs, and a bargain booze. There was also a large supermarket 10 mins walking distance. I certainly knew (and know still) a lot more places that sold alcohol and tobacco than I knew drug dealers selling weed. I didn't see alcohol as bad, my English teacher carried copies of 'Of Mice and Men' in empty wine cardboard boxes to the classroom. So in my teenage stupidity I got around the age laws easy enough like millions of others have, went to house parties and got drunk a few times...spewed up my stomach contents, said stupid things, did stupid things. So surely if weed was sold in shops coffee shops, corner shops etc. even with an age restriction. It would be easier for under-aged kids to get hold of it? Holland still has the problem of school children getting weed, whether they got someone to buy it for them, or they bought it themselves from an illegal street dealer. Just my experience :P
@dannydude6
@dannydude6 10 жыл бұрын
Fair point and you are correct, getting hold of anything isn't impossible, however if it were legal and regulated then it would be more difficult to get hold of it in my opinion, i assure you that the problems with children smoking weed in holland is nothing on the amount that do it in england in comparisson, wether buying it under age is doable or not the idea is to minimise the amount of children getting it, if it's the children people are worried about why not take all the money we put into arresting people and locking them up and instead put it into research so we can give kids the facts on narcotics rather than all the lying thats been going on and then let people make an informed decision for themselves or just make having a license to sell weed a very difficult thing to get and a very easy thing to lose so as to minimise people who abuse the system and sell to minors. thoughts?
@Victoriacariad
@Victoriacariad 10 жыл бұрын
I had a few drugs lessons in highschool :P We were taught the names, prison sentences, what class they were, all the known side effects. My teacher then said "If you do decide to take drugs, make sure you do it in a safe environment with people you trust." I asked "Isn't this hypocrisy?" and she then said "Victoria! Don't interrupt the lesson." Several of the students made an informed decision, and out of the many who took cannabis in particular, I still see two of them. One has depression and can't seem to get anything in his life right. The other had a breakdown at just aged 20 and is now on prescribed medicine from the NHs for depression and anxiety. I really would think it would be a bad idea to make a third drug legal. Even if it is strictly regulated, it ends up becoming embedded into the culture, subtly encouraging it, and then it can't be removed. Expecially at the exact time that the mental health side is still under question. One study says 'nay'...then another comes out that says 'yay'.
@josephviolet9360
@josephviolet9360 10 жыл бұрын
To be fair I used cannabis regularly in high school and I got As and A*s, so you can't just blame cannabis. My social group switched to cannabis from alcohol because weed was easier to get. Cannabis is already embedded in the culture today, and alcohol has a far worse effect. 8000 deaths from liver failure, 350 from pure alcohol poisoning, 50% of vandalism and antisocial behaviour, 20 Billion to NHS per year. The list goes on.

Think of the amount of families that are ruined, children and wives beaten by abusive fathers/husbands all as a result of the addiction to the poison that is alcohol! Yet this drug is not only legal but celebrated in our society. Of course no one would would ever suggest that we make alcohol illegal, and rightly so, because America tried that and it was an absolute disaster! why can't people learn from history? I weep for humanity sometimes...
