Just asking for a friend... what if the crew decided to do a stunt, don't care about the consequences for them and ignoring furious ATC and objecting fellow volunteers and try to take off, would the aircraft be able to make a short flight?

Absolutely! However flaps haven't been checked in years (hence we did not extend them for taxi though we should have for FOD protection). Gear was last cycled 25 years ago....but basically you could fly it no problem.

During the start up, I see an electrical ground power unit, but no air start. Wasn't an air start used? Otherwise, what got the engines spooling up? I presume the Caravelle III had no APU. Bottle? Electric starter?

the DC-9 that came a little later was much more efficient and advanced. Turbofan engines, figure 8 fuselage instead of circular, giving very much more luggage and cargo space, less noisy.

what a beautiful aircraft. We flew on Lufthansa 707's in the 60's and into the 70's on a regular basis via the polar route, Tokyo, Anchorage, Frankfurt and back. I have many wonderful memories on the 707 with Lufthansa. Maybe we even flew on D-ABOD. We lived in Japan from 1960 until 1974.

1/12/2024: Good Day. I love this. Video and sound are excellent. I've always loved these aircraft. I was born in 1952 and I've been flying all my life. I do miss the "Good Old Days" of flying. Prop planes, turboprop planes and of course, all the jets. Flying used to be a wonderful experience, in every way. No longer... My father worked for the airlines all my life, until he retired, that is. There's a Caravelle at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson Arizona. I was a member there when I lived in Airzona. Beautiful airplane. Thank You and Happy New Year

It's cool because I love those stylish triangular passenger windows...(yes I know it was all about the reaction to the DeHavilland Comet and her square windows destroying the plane, essentially). In my mind I see the stewardesses of my childhood, with their pillbox hats and narrow kneelength skirts and stiletto pointy toed heels....

This is truly fantastic work. The Caravelle 3 specifically has been my favorite aircraft of all time. I am curious if you are ever thinking of making a Caravelle in the sim rather than the physical cockpit sim version? I have been wanting a Caravelle 3 sim for such a long time, but it seems anyone who has begun making one stop halfway through. I started making a 3d model of a Caravelle 3 not too long ago, but I know not much about Xplane 11's plane maker and such. Regardless fantastic work you have done, those Avon's sound truly beautiful one of the best sounding jet engines in my opinion.

Hi, well to give you an idea: Extremely dominant captains, would not let the copilot actually touch anything, or would say the copilot is allowed to touch the yoke and follow the movements of the captain, flying deliberately into clouds (hiding from enemy aircraft in the war), talking to teddy bears "teddy, tell the copilot to extend the gear" (and NOT joking), when the copilot did an excellent CATII approach (copilot flying down to minimum and then captain taking over doing the landing) saying "barely acceptable". You know these little things that really give you a feeling of being totally useless. Some pilots seem to have been traumatized from the war. It wasn't not the majority, but it was generally a bad atmosphere on the DLH707 fleet.
