Do you think PSA / AAC just buys the bullets from Hornady or Hornady produces this ammo for AAC?
@alexvargas4668Күн бұрын
It says on the PSA website description for these : "Bullet Type: Sabre Blade Black Tip; Developed With & Is Manufactured By Hornady". Their performance is similar to VMAX , the KZbin channel "tools and targets" has some tests on ballistics gelatin you can check out. They basically fragment very rapidly and dump their energy in the first few inches. The base penetrates about 10-12 inches in clear ballistics gel. I'd consider them to be good varmint rounds or for defensive purposes if you are concerned with over penetration.

It will seat on an open bolt in both. The strengthened polymer feed lips are your issue. The milled Bulgarian mag well may be different from an AKM standard magwell in spec. Arsenal for some is a golden standard, a decent AK. There have been KS47s which only seat PMags reliably so that's not a proof of anything. Will they seat in a Chinese milled or stamped AK? Yes. That's a better quality AK than your Arsenal. Do they seat in VEPRs, Saigas, KUSA? Yes. Polish WBPs? Yes. Rumanians? Yes. Hungarians? Yes. Maadis? Yes. Seems that Arsenal should stick to Bulgarian Mags and Warsaw Pact surplus and Circle 10s. Then you have no problems.
@PracticalWeaponsАй бұрын
I will need to re-try that. I have all you listed other than Chinese AKs (though saw them back in 90s for $130 was not interested in such at the time, had enough AKs coming from USSR back then)
@rmichaelzachary8574Ай бұрын
@@PracticalWeapons You mean Russia? Yeah, Chinese AKs are better quality than most Eastern European. If there is any mark against them it might be the blued finish on Chinese guns. Sights don't tend to be canted on Chinese guns. The specs aren't as loose. Accuracy is better, by 1 MOA even. People get 25000 rounds through a Chinese barrel and wear is half what it would be on a European gun. American AKs are junk. Still.
@PracticalWeaponsАй бұрын
@@rmichaelzachary8574 I came here when it was still USSR on most documents...There were only two real licensed AK manufacturers - Bulgarian and Chinese as the Sovient engineers built those factories and requipped them, and provided full technical documentation. American AKs now are just Palmetto and Century. Some PSA AKs (GF5 for example) have a fairly good reputation. Century made (not imported) are depending on what the monkeys were drinking the day before.
@rmichaelzachary8574Ай бұрын
@@PracticalWeapons Licensed USSR AKs before the fall of the Soviet Union were from Hungary (FEG), Egypt (Maadi) and one could say Rumania, but those were crude even then. Chinese and Yugo AKs are reversed engineered from Soviet weapons so the specs are different. Chinese AKs have been to war more than any others and their engineers perfected the design, excellent guns. Yugo AKs were good then too, but didn't have chrome lined barrels. The Russian AKs started coming in in the late 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union, Saigas first, then VEPRs, then Super VEPRs. A VEPR is an excellent AK. But they came from Russia. Bulgarian guns also arrived in the 1990s, but the Bulgarians did not produced AKMs at the time for the US market, only milled AK-47 type AKs - they were decent. All of these weapons were affected by the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 which lasted until 2004. In 1994 the Clinton administration banned import of all rifles from China; that ban remains in place to this day. I would rank these AKs as 1). Chinese Polytech/Norinco 2). Russian VEPR 3). Bulgarian Arsenal milled 4). Yugo M70 5). Russian Saiga 6). Hungarian FEG 7). Egyptian Maadi 8). Rumanian WASR. Century guns aren't up to snuff. Riley isn't much better. PSA on their new AKs can't even true front sights, uses second standard parts and does spreewerk quality hit and miss AKs. Kalashnikov USA also skimps on the quality of their parts. USA AKs in general are a pass. Other AK type rifles which are good from the 1980s and 1990s are Finnish Valmets and Israeli Galils - they're not worth what people charge for them today. A good 5.56N rifle based off the AK was the FN FNC, also not worth what they cost today. I once thought Chinese AKs were nothing special because they were cheap, plentiful, came with thumbhole stocks and had blued finishes. But accuracy-wise, reliability-wise, longevity-wise the Chinese AKs are the best.
@PracticalWeapons29 күн бұрын
@rmichaelzachary8574 my first ak was arsenal slr-101, ban milled model, for $300 in early 2000s. There was also easy Germany producing aks under license, as well as India and North Korea
