Maybe not a true bass, but he sings the lowest of the harmony on this song today- an octave below the main melody. Why the heck was he and Russell singing so high here?? Russell should've been given a mid-tenor harmony and Marcus should've been carrying the low-end like he does today. He had a deep baritone speaking voice even back then; his speaking voice literally still sounds the same. He could've done it. Yes I heard that whack solo Russell did at the Apollo which is I why I said give him a tenor harmony part. Whose idea was it to give that boy that high part? Just because he looked like.... "Al B.
