The first bus I ever drove was a 1967 -- I believe it was -- Blue Bird All American, with a big gasoline-powered GMC V6 that really moved that bus along.T he 5-speed transmission stick had a backwards H pattern, and it had a 2-speed rear-end. It came with air-powered steering, but all US buses with that power steering system were recalled after my dad's bus (the same one I first drove at age 18) lost its steering and took a sudden dive into a ditch full of snow somewhere around 1970, or so. Lucky there were no kids on the bus, and my dad wasn't hurt. He happened to have his camera with him that day, and took two pictures of the bus in the ditch. I had some time to kill a few years ago, and I did a search and found the recall notice on the air power steering problem, on the Internet.

I accidentally bought the Micro-bird instead of another bus, and it was actually the best purchase I ever made. The bus helped me grind a ton of money which lead me to buy more buses
