I was taught differently. Yes Naga are very intelligent, wisdom through the ages, ever observing yet very seldom are they seen. The Naga are human like beings that are very different and various breeds of Naga. Most I have heard/read/observed in meditation are the Naga royals. Mostly human like with the upper body is mostly serpent or Cobra heads. The Naga King in the previous cycle had a man's head yet his hood was many smaller cobras. As was the queen, yet there offspring were human body with a single cobra head. Stories of a young Shiva used to chase them all around Shankar. He has faught them, protected them, and formed a close relationship with them. This is why the Naga princess is wrapped around his neck, Vasuki. They stay underground due to great righteous men no longer live on the surface. If you see a Naga, no matter it's form, it means that the Naga people believe there is greatness within you and pray there are more like you.
