Of course, it will take a long time for new interstates to get built. The section from Las Vegas to Kingman seems to be doable, though extending the freeway all the way from. Tucson to Reno will take many years. Highly 99 south of Sacramento is already a freeway all the way to Grapevine, though a good cHunk of the route north of Sacramento is not and can take ma years to upgrade. As for highway 101, I coupd see that route getting upgraded to interstate standards between Los Angeles and San Francisco, but upgrading the route all the way to Eureka or Crescent city might or might not be feasible. Also the vast majority of the route in Oregon and Washington is a 2 lane coastal highway. Though eastern Oregon and Idaho may need additional interstates eventually, especially with the Bend area and Klamath falls areas growing over the years. Also as cities in idaho grow (especially ones like Post Falls, Couer d Alene, Boise and Twin Falls), state may eventually need a good north south interstate thst connects Couer d Alene with the Boise area as currently, there are no direct freeway connections between Couer d Alene and Boise at this time. The Spokane area is getting the north Spokane corridor put in, but it is not expected to be done until 2030, so it will still be years before thst is done.

Interstate 405 ends at interstate 5 in Irvine 59 miles north of San Diego but was interstate 405 ever intended to continue south of the current i-5/405 interchange near the Irvine spectrum. Why do the signs on interstate 405 read San Diego even though this freeway doesn’t touch the San Diego city limits.

If anything it will go over the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, run north on the I-80/580 freeway, then head west to Marin on the Richmond San Rafael Bridge to connect to Route US-101.

This is certainly interesting. However, the biggest issue as of late is that the US has not been good at infrastructure projects for about 50 years now. We pushed forward and built the great interstate system, but spending on public infrastructure has significantly dropped since the 1960's. Unfortunately at this stage, I don't know if the US wants to spend the money on these interstates. A great example is how long it has taken to get I-11 to where it's at, and then much less to Reno? Maybe after a number of years, after a lot more rotting of the infrastructure, people will wake up. But until then, these projects are going to be very hard to pass. Hopefully we'll see something in our lifetimes though.

I would call the upgraded US 101 Interstate 1 instead of Interstate 3. There will be an Interstate 3 on the east coast between Savanna GA and Knoxville TN.

All of these future Interstate Highways and ideas are amazing!! Interstate 11 is badly needed for many reasons. Those environmentalist wackos instead of complaining should raise funds to plant more trees along side these future highways. Trees are renewable resources. Interstate highway designs and expansions are not going to kill the environment but add more benefits to them. Tree planting projects where things are not going to be developed is another great idea. Think win-win!! Save lives with safer and better highways!!
