Awesome, but the music is drowning out the words. I have to strain just to hear them. Way too much focus on just the music in my opinion.

This producer knows what he is doing. This track is obviously made for mixing, as well as tracks by everyone who "seems to think adding beats makes it sound amazing" . The beginning and end are where the DJ will be mixing, so it's better that those sections remain sparse. For that reason, playing it stand-alone is going to sound slower. Just sayin' ;)
