I bought the blink camera about a month ago and just got around to installing it today. It's different than yours. I like yours better. The wire hook up on mine is not on the plate. It's on the doorbell part it's self. Bad design. They probably changed it to save a few cents.

Installed this exact muffler on 2017 OB, six months later I’m debating installing the factory one. It’s incredibly loud inside the car. The droning on the highway is obnoxious as well. Definitely not what I had hoped for.

Totally understand, and in full disclosure I re-installed the factory muffler on mine as well. It felt like most of my driving was right at the peak noise RPM, making it too hard to talk to my kids much less make phone calls.

Still love it! I use it to access the roof rack and/or clamshell carrier all the time. Yes, you can *usually* stand in the doorway of one of the rear doors, but sometimes the ladder is the best for reaching/tying down things.

@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
I haven't seen one, but I wish they did. That's my only mild criticism of this ladder is that I prefer the look of round tube rungs vs the L-shaped ones. However, I suspect these flat ones are stronger and more comfortable than round would be.

The CNC version overwhelms the Outback hatch struts. Now I’m in search of stronger struts if anyone know a source. Don’t get me wrong, I love the product. It looks awesome and works as it’s supposed to. I just wish the supplier also offered upgraded struts so it wouldn’t have to be a problem that needed a solution.
@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
I've had mine on for more than a year and the struts seem to be holding well (I open/close the hatch at least 2-4x every week), but I can definitely see where stronger ones might help. When I hit 100K miles later this month, I may consider simply replacing them with new OEM ones.

It looks good, but I see a dangerous application here. There's no bolts holding it down. It could work it's way loose going down the highway or while climbing. You might want to increase your auto insurance coverage, for when this thing flies through someone's windshield.

Andy do you know if the airbag deployment is affected with these front end bars?
@helloandymoore

I don't *think* so, because it primarily attaches down below. If you got hit hard enough to push in the bar into the bumper and thereby trigger the airbag sensors, they should still work.

What has your experience been with battery life? Are you happy overall with the performance?
@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
I had to replace the doorbell batteries last month, so they lasted right at 1 year, which seems reasonable. All of the individual cameras are still going strong; I think the stock battery is rated for 2 years. (The app provides battery status for each camera and currently says "OK" for all of them, though that doesn't tell me much.) Again, though, I set them up so that they aren't triggered too often and don't record for too long each time. My goal was only to have cameras triggered & record when someone/something is close enough to actually be worthy of being recorded - I don't want them recording every time a car drives down the street.

@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
EXTREMELY easy. Literally like 2 bolts. The real key, though, is to buy the exhaust hanger removal tool - pulling those loos without it is possible but very difficult and you’ll def bloody up your knuckles. The tool makes it much, much easier and is, in my opinion, worth the $30ish.

@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
No sun (or other weather-related) damage yet! None of the cameras are in direct sunlight, though. Several are on the north side of buildings, so they're protected from the sun for most of the day. I have one in my greenhouse that gets hot, and since part of my plan is to use it as a remote thermometer, I built a little shelf above it to shield it from direct sunlight (and thereby record a more accurate temperature for the room).

Thanks for your review. Very helpful. One question…do you know how secure the doorbell is relative to your Wi-Fi system/network? There’s some concern with these types of doorbells with people being able to hack into your network. Thanks
@helloandymoore
@helloandymoore Жыл бұрын
That's a good question, and I'm not certain of the security. However, as with with all my IOT devices, I connect them to my guest wifi rather than the primary network to which my computing devices connect. (I also don't know if that would actually protect me from hacking, but it *feels* safer.)
