Have you ever thought about rewriting any compositions like Palpitations for smaller marimbas? I wish i could play it (or even just rewrite a couple notes, but there are just too many low notes/sections) but my school only has 4.5s. P.S. Your compositions are always absolutely beautiful and Insomnia and Palpitations are my favorite percussion compositions of all time. Keep up the amazing work!!

Love that motor sound! Is there a reason you normally play with your outside mallet in your right hand? It looks really cool By the way, completely unrelated - Thank you, for "Until Next Time." I'm playing it for my percussion recital this April, and it tugs at my heartstrings reminding me of my old dog and grandfather. Rest in peace to both. Thanks for composing such a beautiful and meaningful piece!

Playing with the outside mallet just “feels right” to me. I probably do that from watching Gary Burton play - and how one of my teachers used to play. Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂.

Lovely!!! Have you written anything for 4.3 octave???? So much of the repertoire I want to learn is for 5 octave......any suggestions?

This is beautiful!! Does it have any accessible sheet music?
@HolmesPercussionАй бұрын
I’m just reading off of the lead sheet! Google “Christmas time is here lead sheet” and you can probably find the melody/chords.

is it possible to play with a Low F 4 octave and a 5 octave marimba??
@HolmesPercussionАй бұрын
I believe so - marimba 1 would be the low F and you may need to re-voice a couple of things.

What level of difficulty would you say this piece is?
@HolmesPercussionАй бұрын
Fairly difficult because of speed/chops needed. The notes are easy to learn, though.
@immabangurmomАй бұрын
@HolmesPercussion would you say its more high school, or like college level.
@stxxryy-hk1emАй бұрын
i see that you really just “feel the piece” with the unmarked laterals and no pedal up during during the end of the first 32nd note run. Should I still follow the markings or should I make some adjustments of my own? 0:20
@HolmesPercussionАй бұрын
I’d say lightly pedaling would work too if you like that better. You don’t want the half steps to ring together for too long. I think the sheet music gives you 95% of the answers - I’m not sure I’ve ever played this the same way twice.

This brings to mind how years ago I suffered from insomnia. It turned to me a blessing as I am a writer. I perceive that that period of insomnia was a spiritual realignment of my brain cells that my subconscious mind could flow through veins of musical gold into “Apples of Gold in pictures of Silver.” King Solomon wrote all those serenely speculative Proverbs.

Hello! I was just wondering when you will end up trying to get all of your work officially published. I’m a high school student and would love to do solos like night light and Rayleigh for solo and ensemble, but as of recent the uil list only shows snow globe available to play. Is this just an error on the uil side?
@HolmesPercussion2 ай бұрын
Hi! Most of our music is actually published either through Tapspace- C. Alan Publication or the Holmes Percussion website and can be purchased there! Unfortunately, a lot of our music hasn’t made it to the Texas UIL prescribed music list yet 😢 the sheet music for Leap will also be available soon on our website!
