Hello John, you mention Aradena as the 2nd largest gorge in the White Mountains and Elygia as the 3rd largest. How about Tripiti? I would consider it much larger than both of these.
@johnkasiolas93 ай бұрын
Hi! well Trypiti is also a very large gorge! It should be about 11km , from the col of Gigilos to the beach (although the hiking distance within the bed of the gorge is about 8km). Aradena is 15km starting from Drakolaki cave. The bridge is in the middle of the gorge. So the usual hike , bridge to Marmara you be actually hiking half the gorge. Eligias should be just shy of 15 km, starting at Potamos. Sfakiano gorge is also very big, alsmost 12km long , starting from Niato plateau with the exit near to Chora Sfakion. That should make Sfakiano the 4rth largest gorge in the White Mountains. I would say that Trypiti should be 5th largest. You can see in google maps Aradena, Eliagias, Sfakiano and Trypiti and do a raw lenght comparisson, also use an app like wikiloc to compare hiking distances. But these kind of things doesn't really matter. All of these gorges are really beautiful and each has has special features. Note that Eligias and Trypiti, both have high difficulty level , each for different reason. One should not hike either without proper experience and guidance.
@west-crete3 ай бұрын
@@johnkasiolas9 Tripiti 'feels' much longer than either Elygia, Sfakiano or Aradena (the full gorge) and is certainly a lot more difficult
@johnkasiolas93 ай бұрын
@@west-crete well how you feel it it's completely subjective. Trypiti is still a shorter gorge than the other. But I still don't think it really matters. Each one is unique. Have you hiked Trypiti?
