The Lutheran congregation I grew up in is celebrating it's 150th anniversary this year. They have a magnificent organ there and a recital will be part of it.

Thank you. For a digital instrument, it has some nice broad strings and flutes to really round out the tone.

Such a sturdy hymn with great text. Add to that a great sounding organ - like the registration changes and the Picardy third at end - kind of a sure hope of victory over som, death and the devil.

One of my favorites, not utilized nearly enough. A well-written hymn that speaks to the Church militant and points ahead to the Church Triumphant.

I’ve been a Lutheran, my whole life the Lutheran Church has the most beautiful music. This is such a beautiful sign for a large Jesus who suffered so badly for us. Thank you Jesus amen.

This is one of those hymns that we don’t sing that often in our congregation; however, it’s one of my favorite Lenten hymns. I would have to say A Lamb Goes Uncomplaining Forth is my favorite Lenten hymn.

It’s one of our congregation’s favorite hymns. Often requested during hymn sings prior to Lenten and Advent evening services.

Come you faithful raise the strain of triumphant gladness God has brought his Israel Into joy from sadness Loosed from Pharaoh's bitter yoke Jacob's sons and daughters Led them with unmoistened foot Through the red sea waters 'Tis the spring of souls today Christ has burst his prison And from three days sleep in death As a sun has risen All the winter of our sins Long and dark is flying From his light to whom is giv'n Laud and praise undying Now the queen of seasons bright With the day of splendor With the royal feast of feasts Comes its joy to render Comes to gladden faithful hearts Which with true affection Welcome in unwearied strains Jesus' resurrection For today among his own Christ appeared bestowing His deep peace which evermore Passes human knowing Neither could the gates of death Or the tomb's dark portal Nor the watchers nor the seal Hold him as a mortal Alleluia now we cry To our King immortal Who triumphant burst the bars Of the Tomb's dark portal Come you faithful raise the strain Of triumphant gladness God has brought his Israel Into joy from sadness

Awesome! We don’t have a dedicated processional hymn, but we do use Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus as the Confirmation hymn during the Rite of Confirmation.

At one church where I was a member this hymn was used at every service with a baptism. Then, when a former pastor's wife had her funeral, this was sung then too

I would like to play using your registration. Thank you so much for sharing this video. It is a wonderful performance. Bill (Waco)

My highest compliments to this absolutely gorgeous rendition of this wonderful work you played. This was performed so thoughtfully and reflectively, topped with the loveliest swellbox dynamics, and the stop registers used here are in perfect essence of a musical mood so pensive and meditative. Very heavenly touch on a work very much a long-time favorite offering/communion piece of mine 🙂

We sing the first and last stanzas at bedtime in our house. Gerhardt beautifully ties a bedtime prayer to the saints who have fallen asleep awaiting that glorious day of The Resurrection.

This is one of the best hymns ever written; very easy to get it wrong if you rush the chords. Best to take it a little slower so we can hear the beauty of it. Good job still.
