Interesting thought about rubbish cars. What constitutes as rubbish car to you? / I agree, alcohol free beers have made a huge quality and variety progress, in the past decade or so. I love a good evening ride, always harder to record tho as you know :P That town is super pretty, I d miss having all the old stone places to ride around and look at. That's a beefy amount of wind noise, Suzuki can't seem to sort a stock screen that doesn't attempt to deafen anyone of any height then, interesting. I need to experiment more with mine too. I've never understood anyone who walks in to a dealer, sees an utterly bad car and says "Ah yeah I'll have that one" and drops 20k or so on a literal boat anchor has never made any sense whatsoever to me. Just buy a used one for les than half the price ya loons! I'm so glad you're loving the Strom. I adore mine. Not been to a bike night yet, but I must go to one!
@HippoDrones
@HippoDrones 5 күн бұрын
Yeah... although I tend not to ride once it gets dark though, so the camera can normally cope with just a slightly reduced light level. I think the main reason I don't do more evening rides is just habit... ride bike in day, drink beer and watch YT/Netflix/etc in the evenings. I used to really enjoy you showcasing your Ireland to us, I imagine with the USA being so much bigger, it is hard to find stuff like you used to have locally without a days riding. Aye, a bit too much for my liking... I have it sorted now though, hopefully next weeks video with confirm! ;-) (it has fixed it, video is sitting in my ready to upload pile) 😀 Hahaha... terrible cars, I just don't get them... The advantage of them though is that we can spot them a mile off so we know to be cautious riding around them once we are nearer! 😀 V Strom is AWESOME, although I do miss the nimbleness of the GSX 8S, the V Strom is almost as much a hooligan as it was, and can be very much hustled around the corners even with it's 19" front wheel... which I was MEGA grateful for the other day when I attempted a log crossing at 60+mph while overtaking a lorry... it was not fun, it was not pretty, but the random log in the road did not kill me thankfully and no damage to the bike! Yes, yes you should... get new bike fwends 😀

Hi Pete, yes, evening rides are good. Especially if you are trying to get a new bike run in fairly quickly. Just take it out most nights after work and the miles soon rack up. These days though I am usually too knackered after work to contemplate going for a ride. I know that I should because it would almost certainly de-stress me and give me an energy boost. Like you said, if you can, you should do it. It has got to beat sitting on the couch getting fatter 😂 If I end up with a third bike, it's something I will have to do more of, otherwise the bikes won't get used enough ! Cheers Pete. Loving the V Strom. The screen is clearly noisy but we could still hear you well enough at 60 mph, so it's still just about ok for vlogging I reckon ! Take care mate, Garry & Ruby

Just noticed the indicators are not even LED, WTF Suzuki, I've almost bought this bike, if they went cheap on something inexpensive like the indicators makes you wonder what time bomb might be ticking in the engine added all reliability issues in Suzukis last 10 years, just not worth the risk. Bulb indicators, what a joke, this can't be serious...
@HippoDrones
@HippoDrones 9 күн бұрын
You can upgrade to LED indicators, they are an option from Suzuki. LED indictors are not standard on quite a lot of bikes, bulbs work absolutely fine too, have done for years... I mean like for over a hundred years.
@dssdf23e
@dssdf23e 7 күн бұрын
TBH that's a really valid point. The problem is not the fact it's a bulb, it's the reason for being a bulb. In 2024 LED indicators are cheap for us as end consumers for them as a big company it probably cost pennies. If Suzuki is going cheap to save a penny, what else indeed have they saved on? It's just fair to acknowledge that if you are going to do a fair review!
@HippoDrones
@HippoDrones 7 күн бұрын
@@dssdf23e TBH, I have never, ever got a bike based on what indicators it has. And have never ever added LED indicators to a motorcycle that didn't have them except when I needed to change indicators. They are so low on my list of reasons to buy a bike. The Suzuki GSX-8S is a budget motorcycle, that is why they saved money by fitting bulbs. The levers are also cheap, and the suspension is non-adjustable to also save money. If Suzuki added all those things, it would cost the same as a Street Triple 765. If folk want an LED farkle... then they can add them as an option.
@Adam-ez4bd
@Adam-ez4bd 7 күн бұрын
While bulb indicators isnt 1st world problem. this just isn't serious on a brand new 8k+ bike. @HippoDrones
@HippoDrones 7 күн бұрын
@@Adam-ez4bd £8k is cheap these days Adam, unless you do want to go back to the old tech of a Royal Enfield. The engine is fantastic in the 8S, as is the chassis... just go buy the Suzuki LED indicators or even better, some aftermarket ones which will be half the price... unless you didn't have any intention in getting the bike... in which case, you were not gonna get it even if it had LED indicators. As a side note, the V Strom 800RE and 800DE come with LED indicators as stock... those bikes have the same engine as the 8S, does that mean they are better bikes mechanically and for reliability because of the indicators being LED?

Cheers Mark. Yeah, it is kind of annoying that they tend to fit something that looks good in promotional photos, but never works for anyone in real world riding. I hope you can sort yours, I think Mr Fish also said similar regarding the screen on his new 500 too. I much prefer the look, will go out for a spin on it tomorrow to test it out, hopefully be an improvement on the standard RE screen 🙂
