As a white guy myself, the thing that drives me nuts about the way white people react to being accused of being racist when sh!t like this happens and they make these videos defending themselves is that there’s different levels of racism, and a lot of white people who are racist don’t even know it. Just because you’re a not genocidal hatred level racist, doesn’t mean you’re not racist. Maybe you’re just an Archie Bunker level racist. And maybe not even that. So what drives me nuts is that in so many of these instances they always go so hard trying to defend themselves against even the very idea that they could be even the least bit racist as completely outrageous, instead of just saying, hey, I guess I had some subconscious fears based on preconceived notions that I wasn’t even aware I had, and I just learned something about myself that I don’t like, and now that I’m aware of it, I can change it.
