I'm only glad fans of the dolls would make up names for their dolls. Of course I still called my Barbie Barbie and her sister/daughter Kelly. Because Kelly seem to suit her better then Chelsea. Chelsea sound like the name you would give a teenager, not a little girl like Kelly.

I miss Kelly. They just phased her out & all of a sudden here's Chelsea. My daughter still has all the Kelly dolls my mom & I got her.

There was something about Kelly dolls (or just barbie dolls overall before) that made them much more qualitative. Chelsea came up pretty much when barbie started to be less detailed, when the outfits turned out to be too simplified and the number of accessories limited. Kelly had much more personality and came in many fun sets (like the ones for barbie's birthday or those based on movies and stuff), even the versions from barbie movies were much better than what we have now, when chelsea is just all pink and less "fun" for me as a collector somehow

it looks like The 2007 Top Model Summer dolls with Model Muse bodies which came in black fake suede boots have a tendency to need this kind of treatment on legs /feet right out of the box . i guess the pink socks don't keep this from happening But i hope this works on that body too.

It hit even harder when this came into play for the Barbie movies/shows too. Kelly’s personality was innocent and always looked up to Barbie, wanting/needing advice. Chelsea is just rambunctious and doesn’t listen to Barbie.

I agree with you. I loved Kelly growing up. I had the pool Kelly and the potty training Kelly and the 18 inch Kelly. As a adult doll collector I still collect Kelly dolls. I do also collect Chelsea dolls.

I have one of the little blind pack mermaid children that came in sea shells. I like her a lot, because she seems to partly use a Kelly mold, and I'm one of those oddballs that like the molded hair these dolls came with.

I live in Canada, and I only ever saw her called Kelly here in Alberta. I remember it clearly because I really liked the little thing.
