He said they did test screenings, and a mouse wasn’t liked by the majority - you must’ve seen one of those. So, they decided to use computers to digitally replace it with a Crow … also, it made more sense when Brooks is feeding other 'mice' in the park, after his release. 😁

I miss physical media but I hate it when it comes to TV Shows I have the first 6 volumes of Family Guy on DVD that I have rarely used just because there were episodes I wanted to watch uncensored I hate that streaming services like Disney+ don't use the uncensored versions of the episodes streaming is going to replace physical media and I would hate having to pay just for a few 20 minute tv show episodes it's bullshit I wish there was a filter that could set the episodes to cesnored or uncensored like Disney+ does with The Simpsons which in default is the remastered to the 16:9 remaster you can set it to it's original aspect ratio I had Disney+ in the past now I hate Disney

Don’t know how you feel about audio commentaries, as they tend to reveal the 'movie magic', however … I’ve just watched this 4K with Frank Darabont's commentary, and it’s really good, full of interesting facts and memories.

I don't think I've ever watched a whole film with audio commentary on, I've done it for certain scenes to see if I can find out more, but never a whole film.

Frank actually phones other people involved, LIVE, to get their input as he wanted to keep the commentary fresh (it’s a 3hr commentary!). I’ve listened to loads and this is the first time that’s happened. I’ve actually listened to ALL 5 of the commentaries on 'Hot Fuzz' and, now I’ve got 'Shaun of the Dead', I see there’s 4 on that! … you gotta love a film to listen to multiple.

Such a good film, I never realised it was a 3hr movie - totally engaged throughout. An odd thing with the characters & performances was, I hated Percy MORE than I hated Wild Bill! - Doug Hutchison & Sam Rockwell did a superb acting job … and there was a mouse in it 🤣

Yeah, in the director’s cut of Shawshank, Brooks has a mouse instead of a crow … 😁 (you knew someone was gonna say something, and that it would probably be me!). Gotta love a '50s creature feature, on DV🤢D I’ve got 'The Wasp Woman' (1959) - the tag line for it was “A beautiful woman by day - A lusting queen wasp by night” can’t see it being available in 4K very soon.

Ok … this was the first 'X' certificate film I saw at the cinema - I was 15 years old in '78 and my older sister snuck me in. Fell in love with Brooke Adams and followed her career after. I’ve owned this film on ALL formats because of the nostalgia (plus it’s a cracking film) and Brooke 🥰 and have Kino Lorber's 4K as well as Arrow's. Arrow's release is slightly better than Kino's btw. Really pleased you like it also … and probably like Brooke too 😊

I never saw an X rated film in the cinema. The first 18 I saw in the cinema was Kill Bill. Surprised Body Snatchers was X rated, didn't think the content was that strong. I don't know much about the rating system in the 70s though.

Yeah, different time, different sensibilities. I remember clearly, being nervous as I watched, just how horrific was it going to be? Turned out, it was more of a mind horror to a 15 year old - the pods doing their thing was icky, rather than horrifying. However, the societal change in the film, stayed in the mind … and the superb end shot. Remember, there were no home video systems so, I had some serious bragging points in school, the next week - I’d seen an X rated horror movie!

Sorry, the hypnosis ain’t gonna work this time - the film may be well executed but the conclusion frustrated me. Granted, I’ve only watched it once and should give it another look, but it’s not on my shopping list … yet. Keen to hear your thoughts on the two 4K versions of Shaun of the Dead. I’ve only got this new version (bought today actually) so, eager to know the differences.

I nearly talked about the end of Zodiac in the video but I cut that bit out. I hated the ending the first time I saw it, really annoyed me, felt like it made the whole film pointless, but the more I watch it, the more I like it, especially now I know a lot more about what actually happened as well. Hopefully the Shaun of the Dead video will be out either just before the end of the year, or at the beginning of January.

He seemed to put an extra effort in to 'The Stare' today … he knows we’re on to him, and his snake-like eyes (Kaa from Jungle Book come to mind). He doesn’t speak with forked tongue though, his influence is right and true, so don’t punish yourself. I said the word 'back' to a friend, the other day, and pointed to the ground 👇 … MMM might be a warlock (new theory).

Yeah, I happily watch T2 4K. Another that was panned is 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' which I also happily watch in 4K. The same folk rave about Arrow's recent Silence of the Lambs yet, when I watch, the distraction of a sky that’s crawling enough to resemble rippling water, takes me out of the movie, which T2 etc do not. I love movies, and want to be immersed in them. My Laserdisc of T2 looked stunning on my old CRT tv and this T2 4K looks absolutely fine on my OLED. Detail could be improved, but I choose the 4K over my blu-ray. Really pleased with the original Terminator 4K movie.

I haven’t seen The Silence of Lambs in 4k, although I don’t trust Arrow Videos 4k transfers anyway, their packaging is always really good, but the films themselves very rarely look any good at all.

though you can get it imported to the UK I am still upset this didn't get a UK release because I guess it's the distributors Warner Bros. released the film in all countries except a few countries one of them being the UK where Initial Entertainment Group held on to the film It is GK Films with a different name which is a British-American film studio probably why they (In my point of view) insultingly decided to release the film in the UK instead of popular American Major film studios like Warner Bros. or Paramount for Hugo. both Scorsese films have a great cast I have never seen The Departed yet my step brother says I would love it and recommends it.

I’m not a fan of The Shining - watched it quite a few times, hoping to 'get' what others do, but it always leaves me underwhelmed. I’ve watched Room 237 and other documentaries on it, so I’ve honestly tried to appreciate it. However, Doctor Sleep was very entertaining, and makes me glad I’m aware of The Shining lore. I’ve only got the digital version, because I’m hoping the director's cut will eventually make it to disc (doesn’t seem likely though). Digital version looks, and sounds, damn good, gotta say.

You can get the directors cut on disc, it’s not only on BluRay tho. I’ve always wanted to read the book of The Shining to try and understand it and appreciate it a bit more, but from what I know, the film ignores a lot of the book anyway, so I’m not sure much would change. Doctor Sleep explains a lot from the film of The Shining anyway, so I’ve been a bit more settled since watching that.

I was this close (holding my finger & thumb a cm apart) to getting the Shout Factory release - a suitcase edition with a bundle of goodies, these 4K movies and Curse of Were-Rabbit on B/R. Looks superb, however £80 forced my hand to our release. Pleased you’ve got a new camera - picture seemed a bit blown out, but I’m sure you’re learning about adjustments, it’s gonna be gorgeous.

I ordered this version because the US version that they released is exactly like the Japanese edition except with English subtitles for the movies. But, no subtitles for the bonus features & the booklet is in Japanese. This Anime set has subtitles for the bonus features & the book is in English. Plus, having a region free blu-ray player, I can watch minus one minute color. So, I can't wait to watch

I imported the US 4K because the artwork is different but also got that deluxe set, HMV exclusive 4K, and the standard blu-ray as well as the steelbook. Loved that movie so much I just had to get multiple copies. Also, the original movie was 1954.

My Steelbook from Zavvi turned up today, Iam just happy to own thus film but Iam finding it really annoying lately thar only a certain release will contain a certain version of the film... It was the same with the 4K release of Furiosa, I had to double dip as I didn't realise at the time they put out a chrome edition so I ordered another 4k steelbook to have that too, why can't they just include a limited set and a steelbook and just put out all the same discs, why are we now finding ourselves double dipping on 4K's having just initially paid £40-50. Arghhhhhh arghhhhhhhhh, 😅

I’ve read it once, gonna read it again, now I’m familiar with the characters, and to get the timelines straight in my head. Got one HUGE question, that I hoping a re-read will answer 🤯 Initially my thoughts are a mix of Schrödinger's cat & Pandora's Box - Elle's action might be the wise one? On first read though - superb opening, I actually said “hmm, ok then!” after the shock. Nice retelling of events from different perspectives & times, that knitted the plot together.

On my first read, my question was “why did Elle choose to not open the box, where did her motivation to do that come from?”. Second (& third) read I picked up on the order of boxes delivered, Nathan's reaction to his box, his verbatim definition and where that probably came from. Hence Nathan's initial “experiment”.

Eagerly bought this on day one, as I haven’t seen it since the cinema release, and remember it being such an original and thrilling horror flick … oh dear! The acting is quite bad and it all seemed a bit silly to me, a few decades later. So, I’ve now sold it, as I’ve zero desire to rewatch. However, for the MANY fans of this, I’m really pleased for this upgrade available to them.
