I'm in the final stages of body work on my 105 GTV. I have no suspension on it. It's completely stripped down to be painted. I was leveling the doors and had them well balanced when I noticed that the skins maybe damaged. Acutally, both skins were very dented in. The frames are in very good condition though. I find myself in a bad situation replacing the skins without the suspension to compensate for the body flex. Should I wait until the car is completely painted and the suspension mounted before I finishing replacing the skins?

Hello Fernando. I see your point and I think it’s worth a thought. Do you know the films of Jethro and Geoffrey? And the Australian guy with the Ferrari engine? I trinkt they all touched on the problem. If it was my car: I’d put it on the ground using four jacks that simulate the suspensions and a couple of cement bags to simulate the loads. Cheers Johannes
@fernandosouto68355 күн бұрын
@@GreasyFingers Thanks for the recommendation. Yes, I do know of them and looked up the espisodes related to adjusting the doors on a GTV. I think I answered my own question. I realized that I had installed mounting points for a full bolt-in rollcage with the all the suspension and wheels on the ground. If I put the roll cage back in and bolt-it-up the body will be in the same alignment as it was with the suspension and wheels. This will be as close as I can get to mimicing the final suspension set up when adjusting the doors.

I am an Italian boy born in 1995, and I bought a Giulietta 1.8 "84 a year ago. The car was already in good condition, but it has some problems with the odometer, I wanted to ask you, given your experience with this car. where is the Jaeger control unit of the speedometer and the control unit of the electric locks located, I would not want to disassemble half the car to understand it by myself, I thank you in advance, I have subscribed to the channel, waiting for new videos. greetings from Italy

Good day, mate. The sensor is placed at the left side of the gear box, it’s easy to reach. Note there is a plug under the rear seats, left side. Some say the plug is as much a source of problems as the sensor itself.
@Boss-LM26 күн бұрын
@@GreasyFingers Thanks for the reply, I think they mounted a speed sensor in the wrong gearbox, from what I know there are 3 types and they have a different count of teeth in the gear. in my case, having the Jaegher dashboard, there should be a control unit between the speed sensor and the dashboard that generates pulses that are decoded and sent to the speedometer, like in the younger sister Alfa 75 known abroad with the name of Alfa Milano. I should actually mount an additional control unit to correct the speed in the dashboard, when I go at 50km/h the speedometer reads over 100km/h. do you know? I wanted to ask for confirmation before dismantling something, given that in these dated cars it is very easy to break or damage something. thanks in advance.

Beautiful workshop! I like the minimalist shape and the siding. From the video I didn´t understand the purpose of the two prefab concrete walls, it would be interesting to know why was this wall construction type used.
@GreasyFingers28 күн бұрын
Thank you! The reason for putting the concrete walls there: right behind the building a steep slope begins, about 15 meters high, resulting from a former sand pit. I wanted to protect the building from rocks coming down which happens from time to time.

This is an old but excellent thread. I have a couple of questions regarding a 1973 911S. Have you considered the effect of Fluid Film on the Heater Duct Silencers inside the inner rocker panel? Mine are made of a paper material, could they deteriorate? You mentioned extra access holes in the floor plan later SC model. I have 4, two on each side towards the front on either side. Can you identify where the others are on the SC? Thanks.
@GreasyFingersАй бұрын
Thanks, Charles. Fluid Film is lanolin-based, I don’t think it will harm paper material, but to be sure, I’d try in the open. As much as I know, Porsche has permanently modified the position of these holes. Just try to find all of them and use the tube to find out into which cavities they bring you.
@CharlesLArbezАй бұрын
@@GreasyFingers Thanks, I'm more concerned with odor in the cabin when the heat is on. Have you noticed a change? The 4 outside holes in the floor pan of my 73 enter the inner rocker area. There's also oval slots inside the cabin that open to the same area. I have the inner rocker panels removed therefore have multiple ways to prime & protect. Thanks again for posting your process.
@GreasyFingersАй бұрын
@CharlesLArbez Oh yes, absolutely. The lanolin is quite smelly. If you don’t like that, it’s not the right product for you.
@CharlesLArbezАй бұрын
@@GreasyFingers Thats good to know. I've only tested the aerosol version & didn't find it too smelly. I may rely on epoxy under the heater tubes & apply Fluid Film just to the "Hot Spots" as you call them. This should also reduce the leakage I assume you can expect on hot days. Thanks again, Charles

Straight away I recognised Koln Cathedral. This I saw because I was stuck in Koln for 27 hours way back in '87 after I decided at 17 years old to go back to Germany and see this girl I had met and had been writing to. She was from a little village called Kall, near Goldbach. "Kleine Informationen für Europabus". With little money and no accommodation, I had to occupy myself and will always remember flip milch and the Economics students who had finished their exams and were happy and who took pity on me and bought me Hamburgers and beer.

I remember these being launched in '77 and seeing a dark blue one in southern France. They were a good car but rust absolutely destroyed them in Britain - probably as bad as the Alfasud. 4 or 5 years old, and they were done. I had a late one from 1985, a 1.6RS that was in good condition in 1995 apart from a rust hole in the scuttle panel by the front screen. A metallic bronze car, it went to Ireland.Where is it now? The 75 that replaced it (and used Giulietta doors) was much better for rust resistance.
