Its surprising how well even budget kits can turn out at the end if one puts extra effort in. Same with this one. Its a lovely kit for the price, for example you have nice instrument panel. Only thing is that main landing gear stem side hydraulic arms have to be cut off and refitted in a different angle because they do not fit in the original position. Good luck with the build.

Very good decals and stencils, also the great thing is you have 4 sets of photo etched instrument panels and side panels. And 4 sets of the same in stickers. You will use one set. In any way you will be left with 6 photo etched instrument panels and 8 instrument panel stickers that you can use in other kits that dont have these!

@brushmodelsextravaganza2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I have that kit too. Basically you have to polish off the very tall raised panel lines especially on the top front fuselage and nose part. Raised panel line is not a problem but in that case its too much. I would also carve lines into the pylons and also add riveting along the panel lines on the fuselage and wings. Should be ok. Good luck with the build😊

The instructions show details that the kit doesn't have. And pay attention to the wings - the top pieces don't match the bottom ones and their junction point on the fuselage is very slightly larger than them. Nice look kit, but....
@brushmodelsextravaganza5 ай бұрын
Good feedback, thanks. I am building it now and it will be my next video. I have a few challenges already, especially fitting the cabin tub. Its just too wide, cannot close the fuselage halves. I ended up shaving off tons of plastic from the inside of the fuselage. Now I can close it. Also, the shock cone is attached to the shock cone ring in an ugly way. I cut it off and fixed it in a different way.

If you don't mind spending extra time with the cockpit in particular, adding extra details from leftover pieces, it's a pretty good kit. Very good surface details.
@georgemam480410 ай бұрын
@@brushmodelsextravaganza actually, I love spending extra time adding details! I use thin wire, plastic pieces I create, aluminium tape etc. I recently bought an ICM MiG-31, and it was missing the main piece of a landing gear. I created the whole piece from scratch (first and last time I bought an ICM kit). I love the surface details of Směr and KP kits. Lots of rivets!

@brushmodelsextravaganza11 ай бұрын
Will probably work with acrylics too if you have a thick enough layer. But I guess even then, you would still need a protective clear coat as acrylics paint easily gets damaged. And so that would beat the purpose. Let us know 👌

@@brushmodelsextravaganza ah grand...tnx...is it any good and how accurate is it?....
@brushmodelsextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Accuracy is not the strongest part of Smer kits I would say, so have the blade ready for removing lots of flesh. In my experience fitting is not very accurate, but nothing some sandpapering cannot help, so imho it does not lower the value.
@swing.wing_singh Жыл бұрын
Nice surface detail. Looks similar to the old kopro/rv kit ones
@brushmodelsextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Fantastic details, only issues are with fitting imprecisions. Wheels do not fit on their landing gear stems, landing gear stems do not fit in their holes on the wing. But the biggest problem is fitting the canopy, that takes a lot of sandpapering.
@swing.wing_singh Жыл бұрын
@brush models extravaganza Yes. I've built a few of these over the span of the last few years. Somehow I've gotten used to all that work involved. Actually it's fun and gives a run-for-your-money for one's modelling skills. Due to them being so cheap, I bought a whole lot of these and have turned out into pretty nice looking models. I usually keep them in-flight so that takes care of the undercarriage issues. Are you going to build it soon?
@brushmodelsextravaganza Жыл бұрын
Probably after I finish my current JAS-39 from Tamiya. I tend to spend a lot of time on them, trying to bring out all the details plus adding extra details from leftover kits. Having some of these in flight is a good idea though.

Details are kinda disappointing with many details missing. Trumpeter did a really bad job on this Leopard 2. Also where are the headlights?
@brushmodelsextravaganza Жыл бұрын
I would say details are allright, but I also miss the headlights. Some clear parts would be good there.
@Larry-Lobster Жыл бұрын
Trumpeter’s 1/72 kits are good on a budget (though prices have been increasing…) with few pieces for an easy and quick build. However they are lacking in details with other brands such as Dragon and others being much superior.
