Can the smashing pumpkins, The Doors (60s), The Stray Cats (80s), to sound garden (90s) all be classified as rock? Van Halen sounds Nothing like Elvis the king of rock n roll, or Lenny Kravitz to 3Doors Down. These are distinctive from grunge, (nirvana), metal (Metallica), new wave (Devo, Gary Newman, to thrash ( suicidal tendencies) and! Many guys in the 80s trashed what the girls loved called Glam bands or hair bands lol! Heavy rockers who dug Metallica, Megadeath called groups like Ratt, Motley Crue- Poser-Metal haha! They just posing! Wearing spandex but can’t play!! Yup, white or black- genres come and go. Music itself is timeless and shouldn’t be held IMO to a category - trust can stereotype the artist! Peace!

Then came a hybrid style- about a decade long gave us; Disco And from soul +funky = early rap with instruments playing gave us Nile Rodgers of Chic that provided the first rap groove we all know Sugar Hill Gang From there Conscience rap, Then underground aka music black folk banned from their stations-but accepted/promoted by by liberals (2$hort) type Followed by gangster rap Dirty south IMO - Lauren Hill to Erykah Badu allowed next era to give a new genre aka neo soul. Like that old rock n roll movie by jack Back Black history of rock?! Time for the movie that chronicles gospel, to blues, to jazz, African Americans were the pioneers of what we hear on radio today. Well, IMO😅
