What a crop of players the blues got from SA in 86-87. Kernahan, Bradley, Motley and Naley. Guns the lot of them and Motley probably the most talented.

*One of the game's greats. That doesn't mean if you had long hair and you start losing it, that you shouldn't begin to cut it accordingly*

19 or 20 year old Bruce Doull giving triple Brownlow medalist Ian Stewart a proper touch up when moved into the centre to stop Stewart.

Before arriving at Princes Park Rhys was one of those players that really annoyed me - a little bit like Diesel. The Carlton faithful soon took a liking to Rhys and Diesel after they saw what they could do on the field. Rhys was one of those graceful, clean ball handlers that was intelligent with his disposal and could play multiple roles for the club in defence, on the wing or in attack. He kind of reminded me of Robbie Flower who was also a "wiry" type player that was evasive and moved smoothly across the grass. I a glad Walls pushed the match committee for Rhys to get the Dermie job in the 1987 Grand Final. A bold and creative move I thought. A deserved Norm Smith Medalist. I remember sitting in the top tier behind the goals in the blaring 30+ deg sun - I actually got sun burnt on the nose and face that day. There were a few contests that Rhys won in that opening term and a tackle on Dermie that gave myself and my Carlton mates confidence. I recall saying "The team is switched on today, I hope Rhys keeps this up" And he did - The hyphen, one of my favourite Carlton players. (The Dominator set up the 1987 Grand final in that opening term too with classic "dominator" inspiration and footy smarts. For those who havent seen the 1987 GF, the ball was not bounced at the centre square at the start of the game which I think hasnt happened before. Rhys and the Dominator set the tone for the day - everybody followed including a young first season skipper named Kernaghan who led like a mature veteran.)

What a great player. Loved by Carlton's old timers, many rated Crosswell's Carlton games as better than Jezza's during Crosswell's time at CFC.

The GOAT Defender. No question, better than SOS, Bench, Jakovich, Landford, Glendinning, Southby, Knights Whitten, Murray, Scarlett etc. The AFL Legions need Doull.

I remember watching the 2nds play at Princess Park, watching Hanna having a great game. Back then, he still had some hair. Turns out I was standing next to Hanna's cousin and we had a chat about how good he was and for sure that he'll make the 1st team.

A wonderful Carlton personality, a brilliant player in those golden years of Barrassi, Nichols, Harris, a two time premiership player who played a significant role behind the scences after his retirement when Carlton had their factional issues to arbitrate for best outcomes between the waring Parties for his beloved Carlton FC... RIP Ragsy

RIP Legend, I remember you when I was a young kid in the early 70's swapping footy cards at primary school. Only years later I saw how great a player you were in the Navy Blue on video. Only vaguely remember the 1970 Grand Final as I was about 4 years old. But you had a big hand in that win.
