So the “skinside/furside” bit is a take on a take on a Longfellow poem, in this case written by Herbert Ponting, a famous photographer of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. It’s about a sleeping bag made of anima skins, one side with fur and one just the skin. The poem is recited for humorous effect in a 1940s mockumentary film about a failed expedition to the South Pole. The name of the film? Scott in Antarctica. Walker also used a reference similar to this on Climate of Hunter’s closing track, “Blanket Roll Blues,” which was the only song ever written by Tennessee Williams and sung onscreen by Marlon Brando. Context within context within context. Brilliant arranger-of-dissected-parts, that metonymist in the sky.

The bomb squad stole this.... Public Enemy "By the time I get to Arizona" one of 3 tracks they stole from this brilliant record. The other 2 were Murder Music and Biting My Nails.
@scottborst75382 жыл бұрын
Hi! Actually, the searing fuzz guitar solo in both songs is from “Two Sisters of Mystery” by Mandrill, from 1973! Both RSW and Public Enemy are masters of sampling. Also, did you know that “Biting My Nails” is a cover of a song by Genevieve Waite from 1974? The original is significantly different, of course! Check them both out!

for real? It happens. There was a TV show in my country and I'm sure they constantly used the intro of "paint me as a dead soul". Possibly more of Coil, but I can't find any records of it, was over 20-25 years ago

Wormwood Starman, I am the Begnign Alien Overlord of the Atomic Lawnmower. I thank you graciously for posting this. I have the album. However the truck I drive has no sound system whatsoever, and often no plug in for a phone. Which leaves work rather dull. So I play all I can when I can. Right now this will help lull me to sleep after a horrid night. Again, thank you.

‘Walker’s work, as Joyce’s before it, is a complex synaesthesia of thought, feeling, the doings of the physical world and the weight of foreign objects slowly ground together down into diamond. This is not art for the passive. It does not impart comfort or ease. Tempests will not be reconciled by the final bars and no one is going home any more.’ - Eimear McBride Perfect voice for this song. Sublime.
