The performance trigs (probability zero trick) - are they quantised or they come out as soon as the key is pressed? Is it possible to have a midi track control another midi track using the loopback? TY!
@ukbloke28Ай бұрын
This is fantastic. Couple Qs- the performance trigs : what are the yellow trigs doing since there isn’t a sample set to them and the sequencer isn’t moving? Is there a way to cc / loopback control retrigs on the fly as you can with Machinedrum, for example to machine gun hats or snares at will? Cheers!
@humanprogramАй бұрын
Hi, the yellow trigs work the same as red when you audition the trig, but having more than one color can make it easier to remember what's where. Unfortunately, there's no midi control over retrigs on the DT.
@ukbloke28Ай бұрын
@@humanprogram thanks. i'm still not clear .... the red trigs audition would play the total combination of sample and parameters as if it was played by the sequencer? ... but the yellow trig would only trigger parameters, not sample, so why is something playing when you hit them?

Thanks! I think it’s just sawtooth waves, tuned to intervals to make chords from multiple tracks (e.g., detuning by 5ths, +7, lets A and C played on two tracks make an Am7, A + E and C+G). For the rest, it’s just sawtooth with plateau-shaped filter envelope. The LP4 and low shelf filters both sound good with it.

Hats off to you sir, this is stuff that makes you riconsider the whole machine. I'd like to add that this is even more applicable now on the DT2, as you can easily assign and even name the CC's to remember the parameters. Also, you have 2 lfos per track now and double the amount of CC's assignable.

I responded on Elektronauts at more length, but turning off MIDI >Port Config > Note Receive (better solution than in this video, where I turned Velocity to 0) will keep tracks from sounding, double check other settings and cable if CC commands aren’t going through.

I’d like to request a video series breaking each of these sections down more in depth or what your ultimate setup for midi loopback in the midi channels would be- I have many questions 😂 Curious about what your exact midi channel settings are in the midi config bc in another video I saw about macro controls using midi loopback it says you need to take one midi track out (channel 16 midi track H) by setting it to off and then setting all midi tracks to 16 and all sample tracks to 15 then set midi tracks a-g individually to 15 on their source pages and midi track h to 16 to be the master macro control. I realize that’s not the double loopback technique you describe but I’m wondering if there’s a way to combine the two so I can stack midi ccs for knob twists on a macro control but then have part of the midi channels seperate so that I can do those fx channel tricks you have described with the double midi loopback? This is incredible information though you are truly doing the Lord’s work 🫡🙌🏼
@humanprogram7 ай бұрын
Hi thanks, sorry this video moves so quickly I had u diagnosed brain injury while making it (still recovering, not making videos right now). The macro control thing only works on Syntakt and Digitone, it’s something you can adjust in sound settings, and it’s a lot more powerful for one-knob manipulation than what can be achieved on Digitakt.

Reverb and Delay, yes, you can make these global in Settings > Global FX/Mix. That works wonderfully for carrying delay loops across patterns. I don't know off the top of my head how LFOs behave between pattern switches.

Hey HP, very nice tutorial, thanks for that! I'm having some issues using the reset trigger at the first count. Namely that sounds (routed to FX or not) that are using the delay will be using the new (from the reset) settings instead of the regular delay config. The track is not routed to FX (doesn't seem to matter anyway) and global delay is turned off. Thoughts?
@humanprogram Жыл бұрын
You can't really use the global delay in other ways at the same time you're using the buffer like this. The closest you can get is to add LFO's to the reset trigger (half-cycle ramp will gradually increase the value) to bring the delay feedback /hpf back in after the buffer is cleared. Another option is a trig that stores the desired global delay settings that you can press or sequence after the reset trigger.
@janbert4927 Жыл бұрын
I am fairly new to the syntakt. Is it correct that I have just basically one delay for the whole syntakt? If I miss use it as a chorus I won`t have a delay anymore for my entire track? Is that correct? Or does the fx track comes with its own delay?
@humanprogram Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's just one delay send effect shared per pattern. I most often just double, detune, and pan tracks for chorusing effects if I want to do something else with the delay.
@jasonmckellar7750 Жыл бұрын
Hey mate! Perhaps you’ve found this by now but if you go into the MIDI settings, then into port config, you can turn ‘receive notes’ to off, and that will allow you to trigger those performance trigs without muting the track or triggering all the tracks at once

human program! dude this is great! after doing midi loopback in my didigtakt, this makes me just want to get a syntakt. how do you like the synth engines on the syntakt? since i have the digitakt i feel the drums+vocals+ ambient sounds are all handled elsewhere.
@humanprogram Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Syntakt’s great and Syntakt plus Digitakt is my main combo these days. Syntakt sound design is very flexible but can take some work on like hats and chords, so DT is great spotting on those, and sending DT to ST for FX is great, and DT can control ST’s sound macros from a midi track, and 20 audio tracks means it’s easy to layer sounds or to put A/B sections in a single pattern.
@illegalgiant_ Жыл бұрын
@@humanprogram do you feel like the syntakt is worth it for the synths+fx send (along with the elektron sequencer)? i am looking for somethign to pair to add melodies and it looks like it could be there but also it could mayvbe.. not? the chord engine seems rarely discussed as I see a lot of videos talking about it as a solo box, which make ssense as its a groove box. it seems maybe it could be redundant to have both and im better off just getting a standalone analog or digital synth like the hydrasynth, a4, etc etc etc not to mentiuon those performance triggers etc.
@humanprogram Жыл бұрын
@@illegalgiant_ Yeah, it’s hard to say, and also depends on one’s experience, and preferences in, synth sound design. MiniFreak also seems like a great deal that’s accessible and pretty deep, and polyphonic, with FX (but monotimbral). Syntakt came out when I was weighing whether to get a mono synth like Typhon or fm like Digitone, and it covers the territory I need for both. The ST chord machine is additive synthesis (a limited number of sine waves) so its range is a little limited, but it can sound good with help (doubling, chorus, LFO tricks, etc). Layering tuned 2-oscillator voices also works for chords and sounds great, but is a cumbersome workflow. Anyway, all depends on what you think is missing from your setup.
