@@ErrorDDRYeah the SMX pad is gone with the dedicab pickup. It's been a night and day difference to me for 4-panel.

@@vivalamoochicken The pad is nice but you can never go wrong with a bit of tradition especially at the high level. Glad it's working out and paying off.

@@ErrorDDR thank you! Yeah, my playstyle has always been geared toward the traditional style pads because of both itg and ddr so it just made sense to come back eventually for me.

@@DDRaHolic i swapped out the stock smx fsrs with the square ones people use in traditional 4-panel pads and 3d printed spacers to fit into the frame so they can sit flat across (also still on arduino as the pcb).

@@vivalamoochicken interesting! I wonder if i might like it too. I tried your tape mod but it made it too sensitive. I ended up removing it and put less tape and it seems to feel better now. Still not perfect.

@@DDRaHolic Yeah stuff like "amount" of tape is gonna heavily vary by player and which type of foam/rubber corners you're using.

Coulda sworn my last video made a comment about playing around with what works for your own setup best, so I very heavily re-emphasize that here. I've done all this specifically to get as close to a "normal" 4-panel pad on press/lift so it could very well mean a slight playstyle adjustment too, to potentially call that out (which is kinda needed between pad types anyways).
