I have been travelling on Puffing Billy for at least 70 years. Since before those "young sun specials". Unfortunately with the railway having been through changes in corporate philosophy I may never get to do that again. It no longer targets people like me.

why was car 5 going into the gasworks?
@casperdvd-themelbournetramchan5 ай бұрын
For long term storage. It is still there to this day, along with a full shed of other trams. The shed is now completely isolated from the tram system, all tracks and overhead were removed some time ago. Bendigo Tramways are not what they used to be unfortunately.

While, as a Queenslander, I'm not so enamoured with Victorian trains, I think that the D3 locomotive is one of the most elegant engines I have ever seen. It has such graceful Beauty.

Fantastic to see such busy trains. When the purchase of the NGG16 was first talked about, I wondered why the PBR might need that sort of power. This clip certainly answered that question!! The gauge conversion actually suits the loco very nicely indeed. What sort of gradients are there? Some parts look distinctly steep.
@casperdvdrailwaytramwayvid63036 ай бұрын
There are several stretches of 1 in 30 grades, quite lengthy in places with lots of tight curves, quite an arduous line to work. The locomotives certainly earn their keep.

Nice to see a few old favourites still going , although this video is 10 years ago, I’m interested to know what fleet number 84 was before restoration? And to see toast rack car 17 , brings back some memories, as I was photographed cleaning this tram and appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser, but I can’t remember what year ,but possibly 1979.
@casperdvd-themelbournetramchan8 ай бұрын
No. 84 was Bendigo No. 16 in SECV days. It is the sole surviving member of the PMTT B class, of which there were 12 built.

Thank you! I don't know how accurate this is, but I was told that the W2 could be returning to Haddon in the near future.
@mattaustin21289 ай бұрын
@casperdvd-themelbournetramchan yes, the W2 is part of the Haddon collection, running in Ballarat as part of an agreement between the two groups. Same with VR41 and L103. It's great to see just what this sort of cooperation can achieve.

Great Vlog, and thankyou for your time and effort to place this video on You tube , for all to see,…. It’s a shame that there is not a 2nd turn in to the Depot access road from the boulevard, hence you would be able to turn a tram around if needed…. But no doubt with all the new track and buildings, part of our Victorian tramway history is preserved for generations to come! Well done….❤️🇦🇺

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚋🚊🛤🚞🚝🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 especially railcars like that one he thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles and all should be preserved, restored, and put back into service on lines that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build clones of these and the departments of transportation in North America should restore and rebuild railroad lines that were abandoned and removed and run these on them.

@@casperdvd-themelbournetramchan They can! It is written in the Bible in Luke chapter 1 verse 37: "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Matthew chapter 19 verse 26: "But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Mark chapter 9 verse 23: "Jesus said to him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes. Mark chapter 10 verse 27: "And Jesus looking upon them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." And that is the gospel truth🙏, the ultimate truth! God cares about what we care about and if he wants something that seems impossible to people to happen then it will and you can take that to the bank!

Do you remember riding on Puffing Billy? Baldwin built the original locomotives and shipped them to Victoria in 1901.
@Geebax2 Жыл бұрын
Baldwin built one each of a simple and compound locotives to serve as patterns, the rest of the locomotives were built by the Victorian Railways workshops at Newport.

Hello and thank you for your message. I have no objection to you using the required video for your TV show provided you credit any footage used to Casper DVD, Australia. I would be grateful if you could somehow provide me (if possible) with a copy of the programme which includes my footage. With best wishes, regards Casper DVD.
