I had to go to the emergency room last year because I couldn’t catch my breath, I was having trouble just walking 10 feet without loosing my breath, I went to the emergency room and I had to spend a night in the hospital because they said I had pneumonia, it cost me a fortune to spend one night in the hospital, and almost one year later which was just two days ago I woke up with similar symptoms but I chose to wait it out before I went to the hospital, I eventually felt better after a few hours, but I just ordered some of these just in case I have this issue again, but it would be nice if I could find a doctor that can help me figure out why I’m randomly getting these symptoms

Every once in a while I’ll wake up with breathing issues and it’ll take a couple hours to level out, if anyone has any idea of what could cause this, please let me know

My mother had a stoma and the family, me included, where to change these out every day with her. She had an open throat due to excessive radiation and not being able to graft over. But after her passing, just over a year ago, I've decided to start in RT. These videos and this channel have helped me solidify my decision to do so. I feel this may actually be my calling. A little late in life to make a big change and I know it's going to be a challenge, but I am determined. Thank you for these informative videos.

I can’t thank you enough for your videos. I’m a NICU nurse and respiratory management can be very intimidating, even with experience. Thank goodness we have fantastic RTs on our unit, but it’s also important for us to be comfortable in times of emergency. Again, thank you so much for the in depth explanations!

I was trying to see if you had anything on here I didn’t see it, what are your thoughts on train of four,being paralyzed and static compliance? Do you see an increase in compliance if patients aren’t paralyzed properly? I know you can see a breath initiated, but I’ve read without a great deal of detail that it will show in the ventilator compliance.
@rtclinic26 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question, Ashley! Static compliance can most accurately be measured if the patient is paralyzed. Dynamic compliance (PIP-PEEP) might improve when the patient is initializing their own breaths. I'm not as interested in Dynamic compliance because it has many variables that can be remedied by bronchodilators and mucous removal. I hope this helps.

Fun fact: Compressed oxygen suppliers like Airgas, get their oxygen from the same source, regardless of the ultimate use. Airgas supplies compressed oxygen cylinders to medical facilities, airports and airline maintenance facilities, and to industrial customers for welding. The aviation tanks are required to be stenciled, “AVIATORS BREATHING OXYGEN.” I’m not sure how medical oxygen cylinders are placarded, and for welding, it doesn’t matter. Aviation oxygen is supposed to contain no detectable moisture. Moisture in the lines could freeze at higher altitudes. Medical oxygen actually has to be routed through a humidifier gizmo before reaching the patient who’s on continuous flow supplemental oxygen. Moisture in industrial oxygen, while not as critical, is not desirable. Moisture can corrode the welding tools. The gas supply facilities have large oxygen tanks that are used to service all of the customers’ cylinders for delivery. The supply has to meet the highest grade standard. It’s just easier that way. Medical and aviation grade oxygen standards are the same. The FDA doesn’t get involved in the FAA’s business, and vice-versa.

Find an elliptical cardio machine that allows you to kick your knees high as high as your abs, and practice your breathing. Try in inhale more each time until your lungs are expanded. It WORKS. You don't have to do crazy resistance either, but you want to build up your heavy breathing.

We're wanting more videos from you! You're going too long, WAY too long between videos, and YOUR VIDEOS ARE THE BEST Respiratory Videos on KZbin. I'm DEAD SERIOUS!!! You know, there's quite a few respiratory videos on KZbin. BUT, Your channel is the one I check every day to see if there's a new video. And for a while now, I've been checking, and I'm seeing the same thing. No new video in MONTHS! These types of videos are ESSENTIAL!!! I think we need less of the funny and weird videos on KZbin, and more Respiratory videos!!! We need more of the types of videos that TEACH us something! I mean come on. A Cat knocking over a lamp, or knocking a glass off of the counter, or someone talking about their first time dating, or something boring like that, You really aren't learning much from that, and to be honest with you, those videos would always put me to sleep. We need more videos on HFOV, and APRV, or the administration of Nitric Oxide, or even the administration of HFCWO. Now THAT is something where you are actually LEARNING! To make a long story short, WE WANT MORE RESPIRATORY VIDEOS!

Thanks Peter! My position has changed a bit so I don't have as much time to make videos. I would like to redo some of the old ones in early 2025 and maybe add some new topics!

O2 helps with regeneration also because of the variation, so not so much the absolute amount. I believe one needs to look at the sulfurdioxde content too which is overlooked. Cells can maintain viability under H2S metabolism and this helps deal with low O2. Apparently because O2 can suppress inflammation it helps clean cell signalling and ATP production in mitogondria, which all help cells do the right thing and cause rapid healing of wounds. Currently looking into hyperbaric oxygent chambers.

Technically you set it at the flow required to keep the bag inflated during the inspiratory and expiratory cycles. 15 LPM is the best setting to keep it easy.

Your Oscillating dial which goes Left to Right was not CENTERED. It was noticeable when power was off. Should we have power be off to CENTER our oscillations
@rtclinicАй бұрын
That adjustment is usually done after the all of the pressures and frequency are set. It is also after you place the patient on the device. The real reason for this adjustment is to allow for optimal chest wiggle.

You would use intermittent if you have a nasogastric tube in the stomach. That is considered low-intermittent suction.

The flow curve is very odd with APRV. I usually use the pressure time waveforms to analyze this mode.

Would this can help with people who have to do a pulmonary functions test?
@rtclinicАй бұрын
Nope. It is a temporary boost of inhaled oxygen. You could improve a PFT with proper disease management and using an incentive spirometer.
@MAXWELL7365Ай бұрын
Will an incentive spirometer help with o2 saturation? I have low o2 but had a lung function and i only have mild asthma but no symptoms other than low 02. I'm so confused. How can i have asthma if i don't feel out of breath or wheeze ? I'm just exhausted
@rtclinicАй бұрын
@@MAXWELL7365 Using an incentive spirometer may help increase your oxygen saturation by allowing more alveoli to be available for oxygen diffusion. Asthma is an inflammatory response in your airways. It causes wheezing in most people. This wheezing is usually relieved by bronchodilator medications like albuterol, but the first line treatment for asthma is inhaled corticosteroids. These inhaled steriods reduce the inflammation. I hope you are on one of these medications if you have been truly diagnosed with asthma.

I don’t mess with that oxygen. I took like 5-6 breaths from someone’s oxygen concentrator.
