I cheated, I bought a ripcord USB to 9v power cable(centre positive) about £20 but its real good quality. I can connect it to a power bank battery USB connection or directly to a laptop. I've lost the power supply that came with my system so the ripcord cable was the obvious alternative at about the same price as an actual 9v power supply.

Is it correct that I understand the trigger as functioning like a gate when the button is pressed, but it turns off much faster without waiting for me to release the button?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 22 күн бұрын
@@dreeminde Exactly 👍 The trigger is just a small "blip". It's easier and cheaper to make than a gate and it's usually enough to trigger drum sounds, or sounds that don't need a sustain part in their envelope.

Is there any way to use the amp envelope from your playing on the MIDI keyboard rather than a static ADSR envelope generator so you can be more expressive?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The MIDI keyboard only sends on/off gate signals, so there are no envelopes coming from the keyboard. Or do you mean velocity? You could use velocity to modulate the ADSR. For example you could patch it to the Sustain portion to be able to play louder or quieter.
@EthanRMus
@EthanRMus 3 ай бұрын
@tuesdaynightmachines Ah yes I mean velocity. What kind of output would you need on a MIDI keyboard to get access to this? And what do you mean by sustain input?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 2 ай бұрын
The MIDI keyboard doesn't need anything special (MIDI always includes all data, incl. velocity). You just need a MIDI-CV converter with a velocity CV output. Regarding sustain, that's not an "input", but a stage in the ADSR (Attack Decay Sustain Release). The sustain portion of the envelope usually specifies the amplitude (or "volume") of the sound. So when you patch the velocity to modulate the sustain, thesound become louder or quieter depending on how hard you press the MIDI keyboard keys.

I can't see how this can be used for live jams which is a pity as I like the look of it, it is sturdy, easy to use and makes a great sound. You cannot play a kick followed by a snare or tom tom or anything else so how can it be useful?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. This is a kick drum synth that you trigger with MIDI or CV. In a live setup you will have some kind of sequencer, which you will simply connect to the Kick Lancet and the rest of your synths. Then you play with the sequencer and twist the knobs on the Kick Lancet (or leave it at your favorite settings). You can also connect it to an electric drum set, so a drummer can play it with their kick drum pedal. It works just like any other synth :-)
@petercane6376
@petercane6376 3 ай бұрын
Sorry...I was getting confused. It us a Kick drum, and thats it. I was thinking about how you switched from snare to clap to tom toms etc but of course those options are not there. It is solidly build, sounds fantastic but too expensive for what it does. If it had a clap and snare then I would have bought it. Just love the looks, build and size of it.

An analog gate signal from a modular or analog synth usually. So a voltage going from 0V to 5V or 10V (nit sure, but it should be in the manual).

Hey 😊 I must admit I'm a bit out of the loop, because I haven't had time for music at all recently. But I love the updates that the Zaturn got, especially with the new UI that displays the parameters vertically, just like the knobs are arranged on the device. I think it's still a great (the best?) modular synth in a box that's also more portable, with its size between the TinyLD and LD3. The big display with multi-touch is also nice to have. I don't know ... I still love Gotharman 🤷‍♂️

I dunno. I just re-watched this review and then compared it to some others and I think this one here is truly one of the better ones (if not best) for this unique keyboard. I mean there isn't a single other review out there that includes a proper sound demo for example. It's mind boggling! Who's in charge of KZbin Reviews at Google/Alphabet?! That person needs a talk with their supervisor! Seems like they allow anybody to review stuff nowadays. Pff! Anyway, I really appreciate that you took the time to engage with me and point me to this problem. I'll make sure to keep up this review style, as it seems to be in dire need. I look forward to read from you again in the future :) Have a great day!

Gosh… amazing. Was it sequenced in the ld3 only ? How did you deal with all the song parts ?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 4 ай бұрын
Thank you :) I used Step Record mode to enter the notes manually into the sequencer. The song structure here is quite simple so there weren't many song parts. I also used the morph layers to add some variation, so that one part could play twice and sound a little different. To chain all parts together I used the LD3's Song Mode, which is very easy to use :)

hello, it's an old vid but i'll try anyway; what block would you get to start? i can put my hands on a "The Human Comparator 73-75 voice and control" that guy is selling on reverb. but if i wanted to get something with the basic to start in one rack box, wich one would you go for? west coast seems exiting, especially for experiments, but i'm not a rabbit hole guy, i'de rather be able to use the colors and textures without dedicating my life to west coast modular... what pittsburg modular has done was in my head a bit before, but then, if i want to add functiopns for music and a little ambiance creation, what serge style block would you add to the taiga for example? oh and if there's things a consum'actor should know about supporting this or that compagnmy (ken stone and elby would be a prefered choicev to me as the geezer shared and shared and shared a along the trip...)

What about the analog option board itself? Is it something that Flemming Gotharman has to install himself during building new LD3 or it can be done later by the user?
@tuesdaynightmachines
@tuesdaynightmachines 6 ай бұрын
From my own experiences digging through various Gotharman instruments' insides, it always seemed like the analog board board could be easily installed by the user as well. But better ask Flemming directly, because I don't know if the board itself also requires some additions to the instrument's mainboard.
