Nice touch, pulling a bottom pack of cards before closing the shuffle. Add an extra layer of mess and create the desired friction, as if you are closing a genuine one.

I personally believe that British magician Michael Vincent handles cards better than anyone else I’ve ever seen. Have you seen his work/card handling? Also, why don’t you upload videos anymore?

If you want to learn the Zarrow shuffle, watch and study the video ( 1hour, 21 min.) that Herb Zarrow made on the subject. It is still available. You will have to pay for it and this is how it should be. The inventor of the sleight will teach you the correct way to do it and there will be none of those '' this is hard to explain''. The techniques on how to extract the block of cards at the beginning and how to separate the interlaced cards are beautifully explained. There is none of that here.

There is no one way to do any move, otherwise any 2 magicians would have the exact same style, adding your own flare or changing a move that best suits your style is the mark of a true magician. good job man.

This is neither Cardini or Ego, it's a hybrid of the two. The Ego uses the pinky but it slow and smooth. It is also silent, neither of these are present in the change. The Cardini is louder and a snap, but uses the pinky and index. The latter you didn't do. You are using the mechanics of one change, with the visual snappiness of another change. Also, it's not Frank Garcia, it's Daniel Garcia...
@ReputableSubterfuge8 жыл бұрын
Matt the evolution and crediting of this move has been so muddied through history, picking the correct name is very hard. The original cardini change was actually just levered almost like a classic pass. I think it'd almost be safest to call this "cardini change" by George Pughe and Ray Kosby.
@MattTheGreat20088 жыл бұрын
Right, but Cardini's been credited with it multiple times, since it first appeared in Hugards Card Manipulations, where hugard explicitly thanks him for the contribution. It'd be safe to credit it with cardini... I understand that it can get a bit muddled, it's been published under "unknown" a lot, but for the most part it's been credited with Cardini, I really haven't seen anyone else credited in the last 80 years. Yeah, I know the "original" Cardini change, or at least the alleged first publication of it. It was actually three fingers that levered the card, opposed to the two I said. It's modern day incantation (as outlined in Ammars book) uses just the pinky and the index though. Garcia's change is supposed to be a lot smoother, slower and silent. This is neither of these, hence my saying it's a hybrid of the two. In which case I guess you're kinda right in your title...
@MattTheGreat20088 жыл бұрын
I just got what you meant by the last sentence! I wasn't aware of Pughes Pass! I did know about Kosby's coffin change (think I learned it from Jay Sankey), but that's nothing like the above as the cleanup is totally different, and utilized mainly with a box. It's definitely not a cardini, that requires levering motion. It's more like a Pughes Pass because of this, minus the pulling of the card (it's not just the little finger), as a result the cleanup isn't an all around square up. Definitely not an Ego change is gripped a lot differently to what you are doing, it's silent and it's a lot smoother and slower. So I think the closest you can come is a pughes pass/ego change square up. So I was wrong with the cardini comment, as most people are on these videos. I do agree though, crediting and history is a real bitch!

I think this is an excellent teaching video, where the camera angle is for only teaching and not spectator's view. In a live performance all kinds of misdirection is added by talking to the people or turning to one side or the other adding motion, This is a teaching video and I think very well done!

Do you tilt the deck before, during or after you push over the card with the thumb? I usually tilt it first to hide the thumb movement which I think would otherwise look unnatural..
